Spire Motorsports’ Carson Hocevar has made a name for himself in the last three years as one of the most aggressive racers on the garage and has irked most of his rival’s one way or another. But none of the drama has made Rick Hendrick to step up and give a stern warning to Spire, like it happened with Trackhouse Racing and Ross Chastain.
Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr., talked about it in the latest episode of his podcast and explained why the HMS owner didn’t get involved. Hendrick had a serios discussion with Justin Marks after Chastain started wrecking more of his cars with the aggressive moves and that was enough derail the momentum the No:1 Chevy driver built so far.
Well, I think that’s the interesting part. So, Justin Marks, you know, that they ran into Rick Hendrick’s car. Rick Hendrick went to Justin Marks and said, ‘Hey, we’re all Chevrolet here. ‘Get your boys in line.’ Justin Marks goes, ‘man, I better, you know, Rick Hendrick told me to get my shit together. I’m gonna go over here and tell my guys, I’m gonna relay that information.’ Right or wrong. That’s what happened.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. said on his podcast.
Junior highlighted that just like Marks has been, Spire Motorsports owner Jeff Dickerson is in contact communication with Rick Hendrick, and he might have already gotten the advice from the HOF about how to handle Carson Hocevar. But right now, HMS cars haven’t suffered much because of the youngsters’ mistake.
Dickerson and Rick talk every day. Jeff Dickerson and Rick Hendrick are in direct communication. You know damn well that Rick has shared his advice. And it’s really, whether Dickerson goes, ‘yeah, I think that’s probably important to tell my guys to make some adjustments’ or ‘Rick, I’m just going to let this kind of ride itself out.

Furthermore, Dale Earnhardt Jr. asserted that Hendrick and Jeff Gordon will get involved the moment Hocevar gets involved in an incident with one of their cars. But till then they are okay with the No:77 Chevy driver having the freedom to make whatever aggressive moves he finds suitable on the racetrack.
I’m sure there’s a lot of different opinions. When it comes to how Rick feels, how Jeff Gordon feels, how all these different influential people feel about what’s going on, on the racetrack and off the racetrack. And as long as he’s not running into a team Chevy car, I think everything’s not that problematic, right? That’s what happened. That’s the difference between Trackhouse and what happened in the past.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. asserted.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. explains how no-one in Carson Hocevar circle cares about Brad Keselowski wreck
He then shifted the talk to the Darlington Brad Keselowski wreck that caused many legends of the sport to call out the racers attitude on and off the track. He insists that no-one in the Chevy garage cares about what happened to the RFK Racing owner driver as long as the team isn’t part of their OEM garage.

If, look, I mean, I don’t know how to put this, but I mean, if it was a Hendrick car that he ran into and did that too, we would be having a whole different conversation today. There’s going to be some understanding going forward. But it wasn’t. It was a Brad. It was Brad Keselowski. It’s just RFK. They’re like, couldn’t be more polar opposite or couldn’t be more unrelated.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. said.
The comments from the veteran are on point and shows the different political dynamic as well as hierarchy in the NASCAR garage. It would be interesting to see how HMS will get involved if Hocevar lose his composure and have an incident with an HMS racer in the coming races.
