The biggest sin in racing is to make contact with your teammate. This is exactly what happened at Sonoma Raceway last weekend when Trackhouse Racing star Ross Chastain spun out his teammates Daniel Suarez during the race. Now, NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. has given a brutal verdict on the incident.
During Lap 49 of the Cup race, Ross Chastain was battling Daniel Suarez on-track. Unfortunately, the former ended up spinning the No. 99 car. This was a devastating blow not only to Suarez but for Trackhouse Racing as a whole as the team witnessed its two drivers ruining their races.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. did not hold back from putting the blame directly on Chastain. The NASCAR legend asserted that this wouldn’t have happened if the driver of the No. 1 car had managed things differently. Though, Dale Jr. pointed out that Suarez could’ve tried to take a cleaner line down the outside, that would’ve allowed him to retain the position from his teammate.
Chastain f***ed up. Let’s get that clear, But if the 99 [Suarez] doesn’t block, he doesn’t get run over. More than likely, he can battle around the outside and maintain and hold the spot through the front straightaway, the end to the left through the front straightaway, and Chastain doesn’t get by.

Daniel Suarez was left fuming after the incident. The Mexican driver is already not happy with Trackhouse Racing after the two sides decided to part ways at the end of the season. Suarez even claimed that he had stopped feeling important in the team, something that played a role in his exit. Thus, the incident with Ross Chastain would only make the situation worse within the Trackhouse garage.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. sees grim future for Daniel Suarez in Cup Series
Daniel Suarez is undoubtedly a talented NASCAR driver. The Mexican even took victory during the Xfinity race on his home turf. Unfortunately, he is without a seat for next year. While, Suarez has consistently teased fans with something exciting for 2026, there is no official confirmation over his future.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. reckoned that the 33-year-old was going to be in a tight spot for next season. The NASCAR legend claimed that there were not really any opportunities for Daniel Suarez to remain in the Cup Series next season. Earnhardt asserted that Suarez must be trying to find a sort of ‘lateral’ move in the field, where he doesn’t go back down the pecking order. Though, options seem to be quite limited.
I don’t know really what opportunities he’s got in Cup to stay in Cup. What openings are there? Where would he go that would be like a, ‘Hell yeah, this is just as good.’ A lateral move at least.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. explained.
Certainly, Daniel Suarez’s future will remain a major talking point in the field for the coming weeks. Till the 33-year-old can find a new garage for next season, he must focus on continuing his final run at Trackhouse Racing, where he helped lay down the foundation over the years. It is likely that the team will discuss his incident with Ross Chastain to clear things out before the next season. As no one would want to see the two teammates escalate this beef further.
