The NASCAR Cup series race last week at Martinsville marked one of the most controversial races ever. Three drivers were found manipulating the race to help their manufacturer teammates, to assist them in their chase for championship-4 entry. NASCAR punished the three drivers involved severely.

23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace, Trackhouse Racing’s Ross Chastain and Richard Childress Racing’s Austin Dillon were fined $100,000, given 50 points deduction and two senior members were suspended from the finale. Two times Cup champion Joey Logano talked about the saga during the season finale press conference.

The No:22 Ford Mustang drivers had a mixed response to the whole saga. He pointed that he doesn’t know if the punishment were good enough, considering William Byron who is part of the incident is already in the finale. Joey Logano hopes that everyone will race fairly in the upcoming season finale at Phoenix Raceway.

It’s kind of hard to say. The beneficiaries of it are still in it, and nothing happened. You tell me if it was good enough or not. Did it work or did it not? Was it worth it? I don’t know, I’m not NASCAR. I’m not the person that can make the call on that stuff. Just driving cars. You just hope everyone races fairly.

Joey Logano told Bob Pockrass.

Joey Logano isn’t much concerned about his legacy if he wins a third title

While the narrative coming to Phoenix race is Joey Logano winning the third championship, the veteran doesn’t think much of it. He pointed out that he come into every season hoping to win the title and doesn’t think about the significance of winning a third championship.

I can’t say I really thought of it that way. My goal every year is the same — whether we’ve won one, none, five, doesn’t matter. The goal is to win the championship. So, the conversation between me and Paul doesn’t have to happen. We know that. That’s just the end goal.

Joey Logano said.

The Ford veteran is confident and focused coming into the finale, and alongside his teammate Ryan Blaney is determined to keep the Team Penske’s streak of Next-Gen era dominance alive. It will be interesting to see if they will be able to pull it off on Sunday.
