The last two years have been a major disappointment for Team Penske Racing veteran Joey Logano, as he has won just one race, since being crowned as the 2024 champion. In 2026, the No:22 Ford Mustang team haven’t shown any solid signs of winning races. They finished P3 at Daytona and Martinsville, but wasn’t a real contender for the win.
Five top-5s from 15 starts isn’t a performance expected of a driver who is supposed to be in the championship chase. Recently talking about the challenging season, Logano admitted that he and his crew chief Paul Wolfe, needs to find a new way to get back to winning ways. They have won 30+ races together and is confident the redemption is coming.
What makes it easier is the fact that we can look at each other and say, ‘okay, we’ve both won three championships and we know how to do this.’ We’ve both won 30 whatever races, right?… We know how to win. We just have to find a new way of doing it and figure out how to get there.
Joey Logano said about his struggle.
Further talking about the point, Joey Logano admitted that at the moment he is somewhere in-between regarding redemption and mediocrity. The success No:22 team had in the past gives him the confidence that they can get back to peak form and win races dominantly like his former JGR teammate Denny Hamlin.
So, it’s somewhere in between. If we had never won before, we would be pretty down, but we believe in ourselves and have confidence. We just have to stick together.

Joey Logano address Ryan Blaney’s dominance amidst his struggle
One major reason Logano’s struggle is being highlighted more in 2026 is the fact that his teammate Ryan Blaney is currently sitting P3 in the championship table, with one win and ten top 10 finishes to his name. Talking about it, the veteran admitted that the 2023 champion might be the best racer in the garage at the moment.

Yeah, I mean it’s an open notebook. We all look at each other’s stuff. I mean, I’ll be real with you, Ryan Blaney is an incredible race car driver. He’s probably the best driver on the racetrack in my opinion. He’s always been really, really fast and that’s not a surprise but now he puts whole races together consistently, when he wasn’t always able to do that before.
Joey Logano said.
Further talking about the point, he admitted that using the notes and set-up of his teammate might not help him to win races as they both needs different ways to win. He asserted that they have been trying different combinations with car set-up, taking inspirations from the No:12 team, but hasn’t yet found the right one yet.
So now he does that and he’s really, really good. His way is different but we have to figure out how to close the gap or figure out my way of doing it. We’ve all tried every set-up approach we could try at this point. Obviously, we are not that stubborn, Paul or me. We just want to win. We don’t care if it’s my way, his way, or what the 12 is doing. We just have to figure out the combination that works for me.
Joey Logano added.
The comments from the veteran racer are on point, and shows how the Ford legend is working hard behind the scenes to get back to winning ways. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the three times champion in the coming days.
