If there is any active driver in the NASCAR garage that understand what Carson Hocevar is going through, being the aggressive youngster making headlines for all the wring reasons every other week, is Joey Logano. He was the scene as the villain for years when he started his racing career with JGR and later in the first few seasons with Team Penske.

Ahead of the Kansas Cup race, Logano gave Hocevar the best advice he has to offer in the light of the Ryan Blaney fight. He recalled the infamous 2015 Matt Kenseth wreck that cost him the championship that year and how he still regrets dumping the legend for the race win. He might’ve had four titles to his name instead of three.

I lost a championship because I didn’t handle things correctly off the track. And that forever eats me up inside more than anything… I could have handled everything post-race so much better to where I could be sitting here possibly with four championships right now, shooting for a fifth.

Joey Logano said in Kansas.

Since then, he has been able to change the perception about him by being aggressive when the situation demanded it and that has earned him the respect of the Cup garage, making them race him fairly. It tools him a long time to earn the trust back of his rivals and Joey Logano wants Carson Hocevar to avoid this mistake he made.

Over the last 10 years, I haven’t really been in the middle much at all.  Now I feel like I’m one of the most respected drivers on the racetrack. Like, I feel that around me. I feel like I have a lot of respect when I’m racing other cars, and I’m treated fairly. Like if I race someone hard, sure, I get it back. But in general, I have a lot of respect on the racetrack, and that’s earned over a long, long time.

The Penske driver proved it is possible to change the perception around one racer with the right attitude and racing code. That helped him to go on and win three championships, more than anyone active racer on the garage. If Hocevar wants to win championships, he also needs to stop making enemies and change the general feeling in the garage towards him.

I guess I’m almost 20 years into it. It takes a long time, and I had to make up for some stuff in the beginning. But it’s all reversible and it’s just kind of, again, though, what’s your goals? Like, what are you trying to do? Everyone can have different goals. You can win in different ways, right? Like whatever you’re trying to do. But for me, it was always: I want to win the championship.

Joey Logano asserted.

How did Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney’s boss responded to the Carson Hocevar fight?

Team Penske has always been the home of drivers with some baggage, with the likes of Logano and Brad Keselowski racing for them. But Roger Penske never had hopes Blaney to be part of such controversy. That made the No:12 be fearful about the possibility of disappointing the bossman and fortunately the legendary motorsports entrepreneur was the first one to offer his support.

Roger was fine. You know, he was one of the few people I was worried about disappointing… Roger was very supportive. He was one of the first guys who called me on Sunday morning, and it was nice to talk to him. He was at the sports car race, but yeah, he got a chuckle or two out of me on a rough morning. So that was really nice to hear his voice and his words of encouragement for me after a night like that.

This shows the general atmosphere in the Team Penske Racing garage that is helping the team to succeed and thrive. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the Ford and Chevy drivers in the coming race weeks, after the drama.
