The NASCAR season has been moving along at a rapid pace. With multiple drivers winning races up and down the field, former Double Cup Series champion Kyle Busch has been lost in the mix. The 39-year-old has scored a solitary pole this season and a single top-3 finish. Witnessing the slump in RCR’s performance, Kevin Harvick has made a bold claim that he does not anticipate RCR to win races amidst their subpar streak of results.

RCR’s highlight of the season came at Atlanta, where Kyle Busch finished in the top three while finishing seven-thousandths of a second behind race winner Daniel Suarez. Ever since then, his season has spiraled downwards and claimed a single top five finish at Dover. Moreover, the team’s streak of bad luck continued into Pocono, as the 39-year-old was taken out by the No.7 driver, ruling them out of contention.

With the team losing traction in the tight field, Kevin Harvick shared the saddening reality that the No.8 car might not see the chequered flag as the lead car for quite some time. He then claimed that this was due to no fault of the former Cup series champion, but due to other factors at play, he has been unlucky and is in a tough position.

We’ve talked about this before on the show. He’s just at this point where, the cars aren’t fast enough, stuff is falling off the cars, they have issue after issue. When it goes good, he gets in somebody else’s mess. There’s nothing that’s going right for Kyle Busch. Kyle still has the maturity level, at this particular point, to not get himself buried deeper after the race with his interviews, but man, what a terrible position the No. 8 car is in. I don’t see a win anywhere in sight, for the No. 8.

Kevin Harvick commends Denny Hamlin for having a ‘solid day’ during the race in Pocono

On one hand, Busch battles his stroke of bad luck. On the other hand, Denny Hamlin has secured his spot in the playoffs with flying colors and is continuing to make the most out of his weekends.

Subsequently, Harvick was impressed by Hamlin’s performance in Pocono. The JGR driver finished within two seconds of the lead and claimed his eighth top five finish of the season. This has stabilized his spot in the top five of the driver’s standings and would be hoping to make a charge in the upcoming races before playoffs ensue.

Denny Hamlin's tough, and when you look at Denny, they've had a rough five weeks as far as finishes go. When you look at Pocono and the finish he had there, they had a solid day. You heard him say after the race, 'We had a solid day from start to finish.' They needed to stop the bleeding. It's not that they had been running bad, but sometimes you just get in these funks where you can't get those finishes

On the contrary, the RCR driver would hope for a better race at Indianapolis this weekend. Moreover, he would want to prove Harvick’s prediction wrong and jump up a few spots in the standings to secure his spot in the playoffs, else it would be the first time in almost two decades that he has not qualified for the playoffs.
