The 2024 NASCAR Cup season so far has been a nightmare for Richard Childress Racing’s Kyle Busch. He hasn’t been able to emulate the impressive start to the season he had in 2023, which saw him securing three wins in the first half of the season to secure his spot in the playoffs.

So far this season, he has secured just five top-5 finishes, a massive letdown compared to the fact that he has secured 22 top 5s the whole of 2024. Kyle Busch and his teammate Austin Dillon haven’t had any car that deserved a win so far this season, and there are high chances that Busch will end his record win streak.

While recently talking about the run from the two-time champion, firmer RCR driver Kevin Harvick via his podcast admitted that Busch is in a mess at the moment. He pointed out that the No:8 Chevy has no speed unlike many of the top cars having the same issues and they are going into a deeper mess because of it as the season progresses.

They've had a couple of places where they've been okay but they don't have that speed like the 20 has to be able to keep the morale where it needs to be to recover from all these instances where they're having all these things go wrong. And right now if it's going to go wrong it's going to go wrong with Kyle Bush because it is a disastrous mess unfortunately for everybody on that 8 team.

Steve Letarte claims Kyle Busch isn’t concerned about making it into the playoffs this season

Legendary NASCAR crew chief Steve Letarte while talking about Busch’s performance recently pointed out that the No:8 Chevy driver is more focused on his record streak over the playoffs. The veteran has previously confirmed the same saying he would love to keep his 20-year win streak in the Cup active.

A lot of people want to talk about the playoffs, I don’t think it has anything to do with playoffs for Kyle Busch. I think his goal needs to be to win for that 20th year straight, which is extending his current record.
Steve Letarte told NBC.

The veteran still has eight more races in the regular season to pull off a miracle and secure a playoff spot in the regular season. It would be interesting to see how the last races of the 2024 season will play out for the veteran.
