The 2025 NASCAR Cup Season so far has been a story of near misses for 2020 Champion Chase Elliott. He has found himself in a one-year winless streak, with most of their runs ending in a top 5 finishes; a testament to their consistency. 2014 champion Kevin Harvick has assessed the situation and gave his verdict on the No:9 team’s run.

In the latest episode of the Fox Sports Happy Hour podcast, Kevin Harvick asserted that Chase Elliott and his team is one of the teams in the garage that needs a race win. The Hendrick Motorsports driver have to win to keep their confidence level up, as the continues disappointments will soon catch up with them and derail their season.

The few cars that I think really need to win are the No. 9 [Chase Elliott]. The No. 9 needs a win. I think, for them to keep their confidence level where they are, I think Chase Elliott has to win.

Kevin Harvick said via Happy Hour podcast.

Further talking about the point, he asserted that a lot ix expected of the Elliott- Alan Gustafson led HMS crew owing to their consistency over the years. The frustration over doing everything right and not winning is creeping in for the team and if they don’t secure one soon, it’s going to boil over for the Hendrick Motorsports side.

I think that’s the expectation that he has, the team has, the organization and [Crew Chief] Alan [Gustafson] have. They’re consistent. They’re finishing races. They’re dotting it. All the things that they need to do, but they’re not winning. I believe that if they don’t win soon, that frustration is going to build.

Kevin Harvick added.

In the same conversation, Kevin Harvick also name-dropped Richard Childress Racing two times championship winning driver Kyle Busch, who is also a former HMS driver ironically. The veteran, who has been on a winless streak for almost three years, is in more of a desperate must win situation than Elliott.
