The NASCAR Cup Series garage is set to return to racing in the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval this season, replacing the road courts race the Indy 500 track has been hosting over the last few seasons. This week NASCAR organized a testing session at the track that featured two times Cup champion Kyle Busch.

The test didn’t go as planned for the Richard Childress Racing driver as he wrecked himself despite having no pressure. While talking about the incident, Kyle Busch pointed out at Sonoma that he got loose while driving and ended up getting into the wall. He asserted that other than the incident he had a fun time at Indy.

We were just making some changes to the car and trying to get it to where it would keep rotation through the middle of the turns and went a little too far and got loose and just snapped… For a minute. Not for the whole day, but yeah. It was fun, I mean it was just different. Shifting there obviously is just different. Car for a little bit had a good feel.
Kyle Busch told Bob Pockrass.

The future Hall of Famer is going through one of the toughest periods of his career in terms of performance. He hasn’t been able to contend for wins as consistently as he usually does and especially the last few weeks has been really for him. The Indy wreck is just yet another addition to the lists of disappointments for Busch.

Denny Hamlin doesn’t expect great racing at Indy after testing alongside Kyle Busch

Joe Gibbs Racing veteran and former teammate of Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin was also part of testing at Indy. Though he enjoyed the experience like Busch, after the tier test, he doesn’t have great hopes for the event. He pointed out that he doesn’t expect to see the usual good Intermediate style race at Brickyard.

No way, it’s not going to be a Kansas or anything like that. We’ve said it a million times, the wider the track the better the racing is, and that is the narrowest of narrow tracks.
Denny Hamlin said.

It would be interesting to see how good the racing would be at the Indy Oval as the fans would come in with huge hopes for the Brickyard 400. If the racing doesn’t go as expected it might threaten the race date for the iconic track.
