Days of Thunder star Michael Rooker challenges Kyle Busch for a “one-on-one” for the ‘Rowdy’ nickname
Micheal Rooker challenged the Fontana winner, Kyle Busch, for the famous "Rowdy" nickname, though he admits the NASCAR genius is worthy of it.

The “Days of Thunder” actor Micheal Rooker has challenged Kyle Busch, the two-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion, for the “Rowdy” nickname. Rooker played the iconic character of Rowdy Burns in the movie Days of Thunder. It portrays the story of a budding racer (played by Tom Cruise) who gets recruited by a big brand, but unfortunately meets with an accident and has to face a rival who not only wants to defeat him but also disable him.
Racing fans all over the world are fond of this movie. They often approach Rooker and address him as “Rowdy” from his movie. Micheal Rooker was named the Grand Marshall for Pala Casino 400, which took place on Sunday. While appearing for his duties, he was asked to share his thoughts on Kyle Busch’s nickname “Rowdy”.
During the event, Rooker stated that Busch brought honor to the name. But, he also jokingly challenged the NASCAR champion to a duel. “You know what? That’s okay. He’s kept the name alive. Rowdy, what a great name. First of all, great name and he’s been making it proud as far as I could tell. Although, I just saw him during the race over at the Coliseum. And you know, I posed the challenge. Him and I, one-on-one. Wheelchair race, anywhere, anytime, Mr Rowdy.”

Kyle Busch, the NASCAR legend, is a huge fan of “Days of Thunder”. Speaking about the challenge between Rooker and Busch, the latter has more experience and is most likely to win. But, Rooker is the only one with the win in a wheelchair race.
Busch has always been amazed by the character “Rowdy Burn”. The RCR driver released a documentary last season titled “Rowdy”. This documentary on Kyle Busch focuses on his physical limits and returns from his almost career-ending injury in 2015 at the Daytona International Speedway. And how he went on to win the NASCAR Cup championship that year.
The movie stars the famous Hollywood hero, Tom Cruise. He plays the role of Cole Trickle. When Rooker was asked if he was up for a reboot, he replied, “ Ching ching! That’s a good answer for you. Of course, I would! But you know, when you do these things, the older guys that were who they were, they always want to get it back. You know, and the fans would want to see me and Tom racing against each other, you know they would.”
