The 2024 NASCAR season starts next week with the prestigious Daytona 500 weekend. 40 Cup Series drivers will fight each other in the Cup event for the biggest race win in the Premier Stock Racing. The Current grid has seven active Daytona 500 winners simultaneously and features six Cup champions who haven’t won the race.

The biggest name on the list is none other than two-time Cup champion Kyle Busch, who currently races for Richard Childress Racing No:8 Chevy Camaro ZL1 team. He is among the best not to win the Daytona 500. This Sunday will mark his 19th appearance, and he seems confident he could finally end the losing streak this season.

Denny Hamlin, a former teammate of Kyle Busch and a three-time Dayton 500 winner, believes that 2024 would be the year for Busch. While giving his race prediction via his podcast, Hamn said that alongside himself, Busch would be a big contender for the victory. The JGR driver has a gut feeling about the Las Vegas native securing the win.

I’m not saying me. I know I’m going to win, but if I don’t, I have a bold prediction…Kyle Busch wins his first Daytona 500. Like Kyle Busch. I don’t know what to do with Kyle Busch. I sat here, look what I wrote down, says ‘Busch wins Daytona.’ That’s just a gut thing. I write it down.
Hamlin said via the Action Detrimental podcast.

Who are the six active Cup champions not to win the Daytona 500

Legendary NASCAR champions like Tony Stewart and Rusty Wallace are on the list of Cup title winners not to have a Daytona 500 win. Six active champions, including Busch, feature in this elite but unfortunate list.

Above Busch, the driver with the most starts and no Daytona 500 win is 2017 Cup champion Martin Truex Jr., who now drives for Joe Gibbs Racing and is in the final phase of his career. Next on the list is the 2012 Cup champion Bard Keselowski who has started the 500-mile event 14 times.

2021 Cup champion Kyle Larson, who drives for Hendrick Motorsports, and his teammate Chase Elliott (2020 champion) also feature in the list. Reigning Cup champion Ryan Blaney has also not won a Daytona 500.
