The 2024 NASCAR Cup season started early after the Los Angeles Clash at the Colosseum was postponed due to predicted poor weather in the coming days. Denny Hamlin of Joe Gibbs is racing to take advantage of a clash between Joey Logano and Ty Gibbs to take the lead and comfortably win it, holding off Kyle Busch.
The drama didn’t end when the race ended, as it just sparked the beginning of more drama. Logano and Gibbs had a heated confrontation after the race, while Denny Hamlin passed a salty comment targeting the fans who were booing him. Another drama involved Tyler Reddick of 23XI Racing and Trackhouse Racing’s Ross Chastain.
Chastain retaliated against Reddick after the race and put him on the wall on the cool-down lap by bumping him multiple times. His actions were fueled by the late spin of Bubba Wallace that was caused by Reddick, where Chastain, one of their cars, got caught and was forced to come to a halt, costing them positions.
Reddick, while talking about the incidents, pointed out that he had no grudge towards Chastain and pointed out that the incidents involving the drivers outside the top 10 in the final laps were unnecessary.
We're running for 12th, 13th, there's no pointin moving someone, wrecking someone for that position. I like to think I'm not that kind of guyReddick told Frontstretch.com.
Here is how fans reacted to the incident
Ross Chastain has a reputation for being unnecessarily aggressive on the track. Hence, fans were quick to call him out for the move. Some even question his motivation behind retaliating, considering the race isn’t as significant as a point-paying event. The Clash is a race that exits for the sake of entertainment.
Some fans also used this opportunity to question the coverage of the race by Fox Sports as they weren’t impressed or happy by the lack of replays and the fact that fans have to see such events via NASCAR’s social media.
Is this clowning really necessary in a race that's worth nothing?

It’s a sad time we live in where after every @NASCARONFOX broadcast fans have to come to Nascar social media to actually see what happened in a race because we can’t see it during the broadcast. A sad state of production we are in

There’s a local go cart track in Toledo. I’m convinced it would have been more entertaining and much less expensive. Just sayin…?????
