The first of the last six races of the 2022 regular season, the M&M’s Fan Appreciation 400, will occur at Pocono Raceway in the 21st cup round. The playoff race and Chase Elliott and Ross Chastain’s battle for the regular season championship will heat up, and spectators can expect some spectacular racing on the 2.5-mile flat circuit with three corners. A winless driver who has more points than necessary to make the playoffs is more likely to fall short of that goal.

Daniel Suarez acknowledged that it was a cool experience for him to get the pole position back in 2018 as they were able to convert that to a p2 finish that race weekends. He pointed out that having a front raw start will always help in Pocono as the track demands mistakeless driving from the piolets. From the pit stop to everything after that, it is extremely important that every team member execute their part perfectly.

It was cool to get the pole there in 2018 and then we finished second in the race that weekend. At Pocono, it always helps to have a good starting spot. Pocono is a track where you can’t make mistakes on the track, and you can’t have mistaken on pit road. Everyone has to do their part to execute perfectly,” Daniel Suarez said.

Daniel Suarez went on to reiterate that track position is extremely important but the Pocono track makes it extremely important. He pointed out that if a driver makes a mistake it will take so much longer and hard driving for the driver to recover from the tough situation they will be putting themselves in for committing the mistake.

Track position is extremely important every weekend, but it’s especially important at Pocono. If you make a mistake, it takes so much longer and is so much harder to recover from. It’s a tough place for sure,” Daniel Suarez added.
