“I have found a renewed sense..,” Aric Almirola signs multi-year contract with Stewart Hass Racing after scrapping retirement plans

Aric Almirola

Aric Almirola is one of the most respected and widely followed veteran racers on the NASCAR grid as the 38 years old Cuban-American has been integrating the racing fans for more than 15 years.  The No:10 Stewart Hass Racing Ford Mustang driver, with his incredible performance on the track, earned the title of one of the most consistent drivers on the grid as he was able to extract the maximum output from the car regardless of its performing capabilities.

But earlier this season, to the disappointment of his fans, the SHR driver announced that he wouldn’t be driving full-time in the cup series from 2023 as he wanted to spend more quality time with his wife and kids from then on. Though the veteran has been winless so far, he was definitely among the most consistent drivers with his Top 20 finishes and is just a sole win, which he can secure this weekend at Daytona, from playoff entry.

Now, the three-time cup race winner has signed a multiyear contract with Stewart Hass Racing which will see the veteran driving for the Ford team beyond 2023 after he finds a new work/life balance in the cup series. The announcement, which was sin made in the last few months, is also due to the interest shown by his sponsors and the SHR team to have him sign the contract.

Aric Almirola announced his contract extension, which doesn’t seem surprising to anyone saying he has decided to stay after consulting with his family and sponsors Smithfield along with the SHR team to announce his contract extension. He pointed out that his sponsor Smithfield didn’t want just to see him back they tried to increase their marketing campaign around him and NASCAR, which is an incredible gesture that made his stay for multiple years.

I’m here to announce that I’ll be back. I know that doesn’t come as a surprise to many of you, but I put a lot of thought and a lot into discussing it with Janice and the kids, and, ultimately, the subject continued to get broached by the race team and Smithfield, and through all of that dialogue, mainly with the race team and Smithfield, it was very evident that not only did they want me back, but that Smithfield wanted to increase their marketing campaign around NASCAR and around me. So, they’ve decided to come back for a multi-year agreement, which is incredible,” Aric Almirola said.

Aric Almirola went on to say that he has found a renewed sense of work/life balance this year after he took the opportunity to soak it all up this season so far. He pointed out that his family has been to 28 races with him, an unusual occurrence, according to him, that has helped him to find a new balance and added that it had enabled him to balance arcing without disturbing his activities with his kids.

This year, I took the opportunity to really soak it all up and embrace this year, and I have found a renewed sense of what a work/life balance looks like this year. I think by the time the year is over, Janice and the kids will have come to about 28 races. I think many of you might not come to 28 races, so it’s been really good for us to find that balance. Everything has worked out to make it make sense for me to be able to continue to race with the kids’ activities,” Aric Almirola added.

Aric Almirola went on to say that he now has the wonderful opportunity to continue what he does with the newly and family dynamics, which he found to be the right one and a blessing. He pointed out that earlier this season, he announced his plan to quit full-time arcing as he wanted to sacrifice his family but which he doesn’t have to do now.

Our family dynamic has changed. Things have changed, and it just feels right. It feels like a blessing and a wonderful opportunity to continue to do what I love to do, and I think I made that very clear when I announced that I was gonna retire that I wasn’t retiring because I didn’t enjoy racing anymore; I was retiring because I was willing to make a sacrifice for my family because, ultimately, my family is the most important thing to me,” Aric Almirola explained.
