NASCAR Cup Series will hit the Sonoma Raceway this weekend for the 16th round of cup racing and the newly paved 1.99 miles road course is expected to produce fireworks as the race is expected to be as competitive as ever. The Next-Gen cars have been made in a way that suits the road course racing and the experience along with the data collected in the early season road course outing at COTA will also be some positive factors that can increase the competitiveness at the track.

Going into Sonoma, another factor that can complement the hard racing up ahead is the fact that with just 10 more races left in the regular schedule drivers who haven’t yet secured a win has to bring their A-Game to the track. 11 different drivers have so far won races this season in the 15 rounds that were completed, with Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano, Ross Chastain, and William Byron being among the multiple race winners.

Though Richard Childress Racing has been among the top teams of the Cup Series over the years are yet to secure a win this season. The No:8 and No:3 RCR Chevy drivers Tyler Reddick and Austin Dillon have come close to a win multiple times recently but they lacked the fortune to enter the victory lane. The duo has been among the most consistent drivers on the grid as they are placed above race winners in the Championship table.

Austin Dillon has finished P2 two times this season coming close to a win alongside 6 top 10 finishes this season. Though the last few of the cup races have been below par for him with him controversially taking out Kyle Larson in Coco-Cola 600 at Charlotte. But the 32-years has positive hopes for the coming races as he expressed his belief that he might be able to secure the all-important playoff spot soon by securing a win.

Austin Dillon acknowledged that he doesn’t think it will not be hard at all for the championship table front runners to get to the playoff if there aren’t any new winners in the coming cup races. He went on to say that though he is in a position that assures him a playoff spot in terms of points secured, there exists a chance of more race winners in the coming races so he hopes to be one of them.

I think so. It’s not hard at all for us to get into the playoffs if there are no more new winners. I think we’re in a place where we can point our way in. I think there’s going to be more winners, and we need to be one of them,” says Austin Dillon.

Austin Dillon went on to say that he feels like he got a real positive mindset that their time will come as he has been blessed with a bunch of opportunities this year. He went on to say that he could not sleep the next night after coming close to winning position and then messing it all up. Austin Dillon went on to add that he gave everything he had in Charlotte but has now moved on from it.

I feel like I’ve got a real positive mindset in that our time will come. The good Lord has blessed us with a bunch of opportunities this year. Charlotte, I could not sleep the next night. All week it ate away at me because we were so close, and I tried to think of all the scenarios — played Monday morning QB with myself all night long,” Austin Dillon said.

Eventually, you just have to let that go out of your mind and I did. I feel good about it. I gave it everything I had. Those opportunities don’t happen very often to win a Coke 600, and I felt like we were really close to doing it for a second time,” Austin Dillon added.
