Son of former NASCAR ace Joe Nemechek, John Hunter Nemechek, has been promoted by Joe Gibbs Racing to their 2022 lineup. He drove full-time in the cup series this season for Kyle Busch Motorsports. He lost the KBM seat following Kyle Buschs move to RCR and KBM’s shift to the chevy Garage.

Nemechek is no stranger to the top NASCAR division. He is one of the promising talents in TRD. The team has often overlooked him; now it’s the perfect time to prove his worth. He might have a seat in the cup again in 2024, as the upcoming season is expected to be the last of JGR veteran Martin Truex Jr.

He has also made 11  Xfinity series starts scoring four top 10s. He also got a chance to drive in the Cup series once again as he replaced a suspended Bubba Wallace in Homestead, Miami.

Nemechek released a statement reflecting his promotion to the Xfinity series. He is hopeful about winning races with JGR considering their prior victorious runs together. He is looking forward to fighting for the championship in the 2023 season.

I’m appreciative of the opportunity to get back to competing full-time in the Xfinity Series. JGR is a group that I know I can win with after getting that win at Texas in 2021. I’m excited to get to work on the 2023 season so we can go out and win some races and compete for a championship,” John Hunter Nemechek said.

Steve DeSouza, Executive Vice President of Xfinity Series and Driver Development, pointed out that Nemechek has the dedication to be successful in the series. He expects success from the No:20 team considering his success in all three national series.

John Hunter has shown the dedication it takes to be a successful racecar driver. He has experience at all levels of NASCAR that will be valuable to the team in 2023. We are excited to add him to our driver lineup for the year. We look forward to the success the No. 20 team will see,” said Steve DeSouza.
