NASCAR Cups series entered a new era in 2023 with the Introduction of Next-Gen Cup cars.  The 7th generation car was introduced with the primary goals of reducing costs and increasing competition. Though some mechanical issues with the car gave the sanctioning body a big headache last season, it witnessed two drivers being side-lined due to concussions. The car closed the field as the season ended with 17 race winners.

The 2023 season has so far hosted two impressive regular season races and the LA Clash. All three races witnessed intense competition among the teams. JTDG Racing scored their first win since 2014 at Daytona thanks to Ricky Stenhouse Jr., and the final race at the 2-mile Auto Club Speedway also produced an impressive racing experience as it did in 2023. Kyle Busch scored his first win with RCR on Sunday.

Following the doubleheader on Sunday, which occurred due to the postponement of the Xfinity race to Sunday, NASCAR legend Kenny Wallace pointed out that the Next-Gen cars are better than the old Cup cars. He backed his argument by pointing at the less close-quarter racing in the Xfinity Series, which uses the old Cup chassis.

The NASCAR Xfinity race reminds me of the old CUP cars.  When they were spread out, and people complained, it was boring. I BELIEVE the new Next  Gen CUP car is better racing,” he tweeted. Wallace also replied to an earlier tweet from a fan discussing the Cup races being less of an entertainer, he wrote, “This next GEN car has produced some of the best race results I’ve seen in years. (The car did have growing pains) The Daytona 500 and this race very entertaining,”,
