NASCAR team Trackhouse Racing might be the new owners of Aprilia’s satellite MotoGP team, which is going through tough times in the 2023 season with a massive divide between teams owners, in the 2024 season. Trackhouse is co-owned by ex-stock car racer Justin Marks and millionaire pop sensation Pitbull.

Justin Marks has long been a fan of MotoGP and is believed to have been interested in expanding his race operations to the premier Motorcycle racing scene. It would be part of many unique projects the team has undertaken over the years. Trackhouse is, as reported by The Race.com In talks with the owner of MotoGP, Drona to replace RNF Racing in the grid in the upcoming season.

RNF is a team that is reportedly in turmoil due to the infighting at the leadership. Ralan Razali sold a 60% share of the team to Romanian firm CryptoData in the 2022 season. The owners of the team clashed even before the end of their first season together and Razali has already announced his exit from the sport providing the Trackhouse the opportunity.

RNF came into existence just in 2022 after the previous incarnation Sepang Racing Team ceased to exist. The team fielded Yamaha bikes in their first season with RNF rebranding in 2022 and didn’t enjoy much success.

Their majority shares were sold to a Romanian blockchain firm CryptoData and the team moved to Aprila but the results remain the team, as they failed to break into the top-15 rides. The team would be hoping for better days with the proposed takeover of Trackhouse Racing.

Trackhouse Racing is the fastest-growing NASCAR team

Trackhouse is a new team, that started their operations just three years ago. They entered NASCAR with Michale Jordans 23XI Racing in 2021 as a one-car operation. In 2022 they expanded to a two-car team, with Daniel Suarez and Ross Chastain behind the wheel.

2022 was a successful season for them, as they were able to secure three race wins and Chastain was the championship runner-up. This year has been a bit tough for them, as they were able to secure just two wins. But the season was marked by the success of their ambitious NASCAR project.

Project 91, is a part-time car fielded by Trackhouse that gives champion drivers from other series a chance to race in NASCAR. Supercars champion Shane van Gisbergen won the inaugural Chicago Street race with the team proving the team’s capabilities. 2007 F1 world champion Kimi Raikkonen has also driven in NASCAR as part of the project.
