Trackhouse Racing’s Ross Chastain entered the Talladega playoff race with a 12-point buffer to the cut-line, but a stage one wreck has now put him in the danger zone with a ten-point deficit. Last year’s championship runner might have to reproduce his clutch Martinsville race from last season’s R-8 finale that saw him employing the iconic wall ride to gain promotion.
He crashed into the wall on lap 60 of the race and has put his playoff-advancing hopes in jeopardy. Three playoff contenders were involved in the incident that took him out. Kyle Busch made contact with Chastain after he drafted left to avoid a crash with Ricky Stenhouse Jr., who ran out of fuel and slowed down.
Joe Gibbs Racing’s Christopher Bell contacted the No:1 Trackhouse Chevy Camaro ZL1 after it got into the barriers. While talking about the incident, he admitted that he should have stayed out and shouldn’t have made it a four-wide situation. He believes if he had stayed behind the 2023 Daytona 500 winner, the crash wouldn’t have occurred.
“Yeah, saw some slow and tagging the fence, and obviously they were that much slower; I should have just stayed in behind them. Four-wide wasn’t … obviously was not the right call. I saw a hole and just tried to slide through there. Wished I wouldn’t have,” Chastain told NBC (H&T: NASCAR.com).

Ross Chastain promised to keep fighting
Going into the upcoming road course race at ROVAL, Chastain has to produce his best to progress to the next round. Trackhouse Racing’s RC course expertise will surely help him. He and his teammate Daniel Saurez won in our courses last season and have often been the challengers for the win in such tracks.
With his playoff progression in the line, it won’t be a surprise if Justin Marks’ team shifts most of its resources to ensure they field a rocket ship for the driver at ROVAL. Chastin has promised that he will do the best he can on Sunday and will keep the fight going.
“Whatever we bring next week, we’ll put our best foot forward. As long as I get to drive these rocket ships that Trackhouse brings me, I’m living my dream, and we’ll keep fighting,” Ross Chastain said.
