Going into the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series champion Ryan Blaney will have a new spotter guiding him through the chaos. His current spotter Josh Willaims has announced that he will be leaving the team after nine years working for Roger Penske. According to rumours Willaims is moving to Spire Motorsports to spot for Zane Smith in the No:77 car.
Williams has been a huge part of Blaney’s success in NASCAR. He was the spotter for all ten races the No:12 Ford Mustang driver has won in his career. Including the vital three race wins he had in the 2023 season on the way to an impressive title triumph, finishing the season finale P2 behind Ross Chastain after a tough battle.
While announcing the news about his departure via X, he pointed out that the NASCAR banquet was his last and said he decided to make a change for him and his family. He added that he forever be grateful for Team Penske and the friends he has made at the team.
Last week’s NASCAR banquet was my last call as spotter for the 12 team and Team Penske. After 9 years it was time to personally and professionally make a change for myself and my family. I’m forever grateful to everyone I’ve gotten to work with at TP, especially those that have become lifelong friends.

Williams is delighted that he got to end the season with the championship and he is happier with the six-race streak that helped him win the title. The clutch performance in the last six races of the season played a massive role in their triumph. He also shared his excitement for the 2024 season with the new team.
I’m proud knowing the last 6 races were it and going out with a Talladega win, a Martinsville clock, and capping it off with a Cup Series Championship. We couldn’t have finished it off any better…I’m really excited for what the future has in store and looking forward to sharing those plans soon! I can’t wait to get to the coliseum!
Kevin Harvick’s ex-spotter will join Ryan Blaney in 2024
As reported by Fox Sports’ reporter Bob Pockrass on X confirmed that Kevin Harvick’s former spotter Tim Fedewa will leave the No:4 Mustang of Stewart Haas Racing team to join fellow Ford side Team Penske Racing to spot for the champion. He also confirmed Josh Willaims to Spire rumors.
Tim Fedewa (Kevin Harvick’s spotter) will spot for Ryan Blaney in 2024, the team has confirmed. Blaney’s former spotter Josh Williams plans haven’t been confirmed but he spotted for Zane Smith this year in trucks so that would be a likely landing spot for him over at Spire.Pockrass wrote on X.
Fedewa’s exit is made possible because of Harvick’s retirement. The 2014 cup champion had his final season in 2023 and bid his adieu to the sport. Hence Fedewa joined the legend on the way out of SHR.
