Stewart Haas Racing driver Ryan Preece had a day to remember at Daytona International Speedway for the rest of his life, not for a good reason. He had a terrifying crash while fighting for P15 with Legacy Motor Club’s Erick Jones. The No:41 Ford Mustang driver got out of the car without major injuries but was taken to a local hospital for further medical care.

Jones was on the Mustang driver’s bumper on the straightway on the 156th lap of the 163-lap race at the iconic track. He got a push from the LMC Chevy and hit the rear of his teammate, Chase Briscoe. This made his Ford slide into the infield grass area with two roads. This transition from grass to Asphalt causes air to build down the car, resulting in going airborne.

His walking away from the crash is a testament to the safety features of the Next-Gen cars and the toughness of the driver. The barrel roll could have been deadly.

Legendary driver Jeff Burton was at the NBC NASCAR booth while the incident happened and was quick to give his opinion. He called the incident violent and said it was amazing that a 3,500-pound stock car could go airborne like that.

This is just violent. Look at this car. That is just amazing that something that weighs over 3,500 pounds can get in the air like that,” NASCAR’s Jeff Burton said while calling the race alongside Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Preeces’s friend and the race winner, Chris Buescher, said that the SHR driver is a good friend and is happy the driver is doing well, as he was given the message about Ryan Preece’s hospitalization while on the victory lane.

Ryan is a good friend of mine, While we were in Victory Lane, we got word that he’s at the hospital, that they’re running through a lot of stuff, and that he’s doing well. That’s good to hear,” Buescher said.
