The Joe Gibbs Racing veteran who piloted the No:18 Toyota Camry driver hasn’t been at his best throughout the 2022 season as he hasn’t been able to showcase the dominance he usually has over the rest of the pack. The awkward contract situation the veteran has found himself to be in might have played a part in it.

Kyle Busch acknowledged that the Toyota contingent has been impressive in the 1.5 miles and 2 miles tracks though they have struggled in the road courses and under-a-mile races. He added that he believes he has a genuine shot at winning in Darlington as they have run top four last time with ease.

We’ve had good speed with our Toyota group on the mile-and-a-half and 2-mile tracks. We’ve been good at those places. Under a mile, we’ve struggled a bit, and on road courses, we’ve struggled a bit, as well. I would like to think we have a good shot at Darlington this weekend. We were running in the top-four the last time there, and a car in front of us blew a tire and crashed, and we got caught up in that,” Kyle Busch said.

Kyle Busch reiterated that he believes he can get a win at the track, saying, “So don’t need any of that this time around. I would like to think we can go to Darlington and run in the top-five for sure and maybe even improve our program from the last time we were there and go out there and get a win with our M&M’S Camry,”.

Kyle Busch went on to say that the drivers are going to race a lot harder since there is a lot online for them in playoffs. He added that since the playoff race finishes are very much important in the cutoff races and pointed out that it will be harder for them to navigate through these rounds.

Definitely. I feel like things do amp up, and (drivers) race each other a lot harder, and there’s a lot more on the line. You have to pick and choose your battles, but when you get into these playoff races, and even more so in the cutoff races, every position is a point, and every point counts as you try to navigate and get through each round,” says Kyle Busch.
