Veteran Joey Logano who won the first race behind the next-Gen car wheels at LA Colosseum in the unofficial season beginner has bagged his first official win of the 2022 season at Darlington raceway Cup Series Race, the Goodyear 400. The 2017 Cup Champion secured Team Penske Racing’s 2nd win of the season in his signature notorious way by shoving race leader William Byron to the wall in the last lap.

William Byron was cruising to his third win of the season in Darlington until Joey Logano who was running behind the young HMS racer drove his No:22 Ford Mustang to the rear of the No:24 car forcing on to the wall and which eventually relegated the leader to P13 at the end of the race.

In his post-race interview, William Byron called out the veteran calling him a moron and an idiot and accusing him of using unwanted aggression to secure his win in Cup races saying ‘He’s an idiot; he does this stuff all the time; I’ve seen it with other guys. Yeah, he’s a moron. He can’t win a race, so it does it that way,”.

Now Joey Logano has come forth reacting to William Byron’s words saying he has been called a lot of things worse than a moron from the crowd as well as from rivals revealing he is unfazed by any such comments.  “I’ve been called a lot of things — a lot worse than a moron, too. I just witnessed a lot of it when I got out of the car [from the crowd] actually. But … that’s fine. Whatever. Call me what you want,” Joey Logano said.

Joey Logano defended his last lap aggression by pointing out the early race incident they had in which William Byron forced the No:22 car to the wall Logano claims he was lucky to get out without any damages to his car. He went on to say that he is an angry driver and he will be treating his opponents the same way they treat him.

He came off of Turn 2 and drove me right into the wall. At that point, I’m lucky my car isn’t broken. I’m a very angry driver, and I think anyone in the field would probably agree: If someone is going to be willing to do that to you, well, the gloves are off at that point,” Joey Logano said.

He went on to say that he was determined to end the race as it did if that was the way Willaim Byron wanted the race to go and added that if Byron would have passed him clean in the first place it wouldn’t have happened the way it did at the end.

I knew if I got back there what I was going to do and what I had to do. That was the way he wanted to race, so I said, let’s go. If he passed me clean, it wouldn’t have looked like that,” Joey Logano added.
