Kyle Busch and Richard Childress Racing came into the 2024 season, with championship hopes after having a tough end to their 2023 season, that saw the No:8 team in the victory lane thrice. The failure from the RCR crew to produce and field fast Next-Gen cars has been the major reason for poor performance on the track.
Other than the questionable win by Austin Dillon at Richmond, RCR has been quiet on the track. Occasionally when they have had fast cars, the crew either make a huge mistake or the drivers wrecks out. Kyle Busch has been the biggest victim of this phenomena as he was wrecked while on the lead multiple times. RCR owner Richard Childress has discussed this poor form in his recent appearance in the Happy Hour podcast.
The bossman told his ex-driver Kevin Harvick that he has had a talk with Busch over the back-to-back wrecks he has had while leading races. He pointed out that Busch is blaming his lack of patience for the failure, which Childress doesn’t agree with considering he knows the veteran’s true talent. He has promised Busch that they will survive the tough year and will win races again.
Richard Childres is excited about the 2025 season
Despite the struggles, the Hall of Fame team owner has confidence about RCR future as he revealed that there is a lot of changes coming in this season. He believes these updates to the RCR cars can make a lot difference and help them bounce back. Learning from the past has also given the team a positive attitude for 2025.
The team owner seems to be seeing some much-needed changes within his team that can help them bounce back soon. It will be interesting to see if they have really found the real solution to their problems or it will be another failure.
