“He shouldn’t be the favorite, it should be..”- Stephen A. Smith reveals who should be MVP favorite between Kevin Durant and JA Morant
Stephen A. Smith on MVP case between Ja Morant and Kevin Durant
Ja Morant is still the seventh on the NBA’s Kia MVP Ladder, led by Giannis Antetokounmpo. However, Morant is no longer overlooked as Stephen A. Smith recently acknowledged Morant and his success with the Memphis Grizzlies.
Morant’s Memphis Grizzlies have been the surprise of the season, but it was only a matter of time. The Grizzlies’ 1st season with Morant saw them falling just short of the Playoffs in the bubble. Then the next season, they won two straight play-in games to secure an NBA Playoff berth. This season, they have decided not to leave it to the play-in and, by far. They currently hold the 4th seed (30-15) in the wild west.

Ja Morant is Balling: Stephen A. Smith
Stephen A. Smith, however, has Ja Morant only as an MVP candidate as of now. Who he thinks should be the MVP, after Stephen Curry’s scoring woes and Golden State’s losses, is Kevin Durant. He said – “He shouldn’t be the favorite right now, that should be Kevin Durant. Giannis Antetokounmpo is on the come-up. Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies is a bonafide top 5 league MVP candidate. You better recognize, ‘cos the brother is big time and is balling.”
Kevin Durant’s MRI revealed on Sunday that he will be possibly out for 4-6 weeks following a knee injury. This is bound to hurt Kevin Durant’s MVP campaign. According to the official Kia NBA MVP ladder, Giannis Antetokounmpo is currently at the top, followed by – Nikola Jokic, Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid, DeMar DeRozan, Steph Curry, and Ja Morant.
