Matisse Thybulle falls down hard in the game against the Boston Celtics
Matisse Thybulle is one of the best hustlers in the league. Friday night game against the Boston Celtics, his hustle was a small part of the trouble that he got into when he faced a hard fall on the ground which could have been season ending at best and career-threatening at worst.
The Philadelphia 76ers beat the Boston Celtics at home on Friday night 111-99. The Sixers now improve their record to 24-17, 5th best in the Eastern Conference. The Celtics, currently are even out of the play-in contention, being 11th in the Eastern Conference with a 21-22 record for the season.

For the 76ers, Joel Embiid’s eight-game 30-point streak came to an end on Friday as he was able to score 25 points. However, his playmaking game stays consistent in the absence of Ben Simmons. Embiid’s season-high assists average has been 3.7 assists per game. He has had four or more assists in five out of his last six games. He had six assists in the game against the Celtics.
Tobias Harris and Seth Curry scored 17 points each for the Sixers, while Tyrese Maxey added 23 points and five assists, going 5-7 from the three-point territory. Matisse Thybulle added eight points. For the Celtics, the All-Star duo Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown scored 20 and 21 points respectively, going a combined 14-35 from the field.

Matisse Thybulle falls hard back-first
During the 3rd quarter, Matisse Thybulle stole the ball after deflecting it off an attempted pass from Dennis Schroder. Thybulle ran with it for a wide-open dunk and he nailed it. As he hung on to the rim after the dunk, his momentum caused him to lose the grip of the rim and he fell hard back-first onto the ground. Dennis Schroder, who was running behind Thybulle, may have had an unintentional role in the fall too.
Matisse Thybulle’s hustle makes him one of the most valuable pieces on the Sixers roster. He is known for playing stellar defense, having also made All-NBA defensive team last season. He is averaging a career-high 1.1 blocks per game and 1.7 steals per game. As far his hustle goes, he is averaging 3.6 deflections per game (3rd in the league) and 5.1 deflections per 36 minutes (2nd in the league). He has a total of 113 deflections this season.
