James Harden’s Sixers mistake worth over $45 Million revealed

James Harden
James Harden has been a player to change gears very quickly. We saw a glimpse of this while he got traded from the Houston Rockets to the Brooklyn Nets where he was very unhappy with the stagnant situations with his team. It seems that history has repeated itself all over across.

The cat is definitely out of the bag with the Ben Simmons and James Harden swap. Both teams have benefitted a lot which the Nets acquiring a three-position piece and the Philadelphia 76ers acquiring an All-Star caliber player to pair alongside Joel Embiid’s hunger to win a title. If things were to work out according to plan, both teams are going to be really hard to match up against.
James Harden wanted a trade because of Kyrie Irving

Recent rumors have revealed that James Harden had a much more personal reason as to why he wanted out of Brooklyn. The star has achieved most of what a player like him can get by, except a ring which makes the Sixers an ideal landing for the Beard.

The rumor stated that Harden was not happy with Kyrie Irving‘s availability for the rest of the season after being permitted to play with the team on the road. And Philly’s need for a good second option just happened to be a perfect scenario for the Beard to target.
“Kyrie not being held accountable and Kyrie being allowed to do whatever he wants. James, being his age, knows he doesn’t have any time to waste to get his first championship,” a source revealed to ESPN.
James Harden did not sign a player option with the Sixers

As we all know, James Harden becomes a free agent this offseason if he opts out of his player option. Shams Charania first reported that the player will be exercising his player option worth over $45 million with the Sixers but it was later revealed by Kyle Neubeck of the Philly Voice that Harden did not opt-in for the player option.
Later on, Charania explained the contradicting statements saying, “The paperwork was filed but they did not meet the buzzer for the opt-in. He still has the option to opt-in the summer. There was a time period where he could have opted in in conjunction with the trade. They ended up not filing the paperwork in time so a little bit of a procedural situation with the paperwork.”

As simple as it is, this could have sparked a lot of controversies if left alone but it seems that James Harden is not very happy and positive with his move to Philly pairing him up with Joel Embiid. Knowing who he is and his history of being frustrated with his team, many are worried over the fact he might quickly change his mind about the Sixers too.
