Kyrie Irving compares himself to Muhammad Ali amid Covid-19 drama
Muhammad Ali and Kyrie Irving
With Brooklyn Nets initially having a firm stance on Kyrie Irving’s Covid-19’s vaccine stance, the team decided to allow the 2016 NBA Champion to allow his services part-time in only the road games of the team. However, his much awaited debut in the 2021-22 season was delayed by the Health and Safety Protocols. After which it seems like the Nets’ marquee has decided to compare himself with boxing legend Muhammad Ali.
There is no introduction required to Kyrie Irving’s social media posts this season as he has consistently been posting controversial messages and images and this time around it is no different as he posted a picture of boxing legend Muhammad Ali on his Instagram story.
Why did Kyrie Irving compare himself to Muhammad Ali?
Kyrie Irving, who has sat out the 2021-22 NBA season while he opposes the league’s COVID mandate and stands up for his beliefs, has compared himself and his actions to that of some social activists. His latest comparison, however, is somewhat of a stretch, and folks on Twitter let him know about it, suggesting he was disrespecting the legacy left behind by the late, great Muhammad Ali.
Many NBA and hoop fans have even condemned the rigid stance of Irving yet it seems like he has finally got his way out, serving the Brooklyn Nets as a part-time player when the team are holding one of the top spots in the Eastern Conference standings. On the other hand, for Kyrie’s sake it seems like he feels like he has been mistreated in amid this Covid-19 controversy and has gone onto compare himself with Ali.
Having said that Brooklyn Nets had their game against Denver Nuggets being postponed as 10 of their players are currently in the NBA Health and Safety Protocol. With another Covid-19 outbreak seeming to be looming and hovering around the league’s 75th anniversary season, many speculate dark clouds which could result in the season getting suspended. But only time will unravel all answers.
