Nets’ James Harden delivers cocky hype to finally forming the Trio with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving

James Harden

James Harden, the facilitating piece of the Brooklyn Nets Big-3, is very confident about their trio after blowing out the Number One seed Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night on road. Although the Nets’ Big-3 lost to the short-handed Portland Trail Blazers in the previous game, it is something they would like to leave in the past.

The Brooklyn Nets Big-3 of James Harden, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving has thus far played 16 games together, and have a record of 13-3 in those games. Even after trading for James Harden before the well before the trade deadline last season, the three players got very less opportunities to take the court together. This was because of the injuries, Covid protocols, and Kyrie’s absence due to his personal reasons.

This season started tough already after Kyrie Irving refused to take the shot. The Nets then ruled him out for the entire season even though he was eligible for the road games. But the Nets have now reversed their stance and Kyrie can now play in the away games. The Big-3 have played three games together this season and they are 2-1 in those games.

James Harden has been hyping up the Big-3 taking over the entire league since the last season, predicting ‘scary hours’ often. The Nets showed that he was right albeit not for long. After dominating the Celtics in the 1st Round in the Playoffs, both Irving and Harden were shortly forced to be out with injuries. But that has not bogged down Harden as he still feels confident about the destruction they can cause.

Despite playing only a few games together, the Nets trio gels very well together. Harden, regarding this, said (as quoted by ESPN) – “We’re that good. We got a chance to be that good. We just haven’t had enough of it. I think last year we probably had 15 games maybe together, a little more, a little less. And this year only two. We haven’t had a real bulk of a season, You all can consistently see how great we can be. And we’re working on that. We need to get to that point.”

Harden also had something to say about how little opportunity they have got to play together, saying – “We just got to do it. Since I’ve been here it’s been crazy, a lot of ups and downs, honestly. From last year coming into this year, we haven’t had any consistency for any reason but … we’re not far at all. We’re all killers. We attack. But we’re all unselfish. We like to just make the right play. So it won’t take long at all. We just got to be out there on the court and be out there doing it.”
