It pays to be a giant like Giannis Antetokounmpo. Any other average-sized human being would’ve never been able to handle Italy Coach, Gianmarco Pozzecco’s monstrous hug after his team’s fantastic win over Serbia at EuroBasket 2022.

Beating a team led by two-time NBA MVP, Nikola Jokic is no ordinary feat. Gianmarco’s Italy crushed the Serbian team led by Jokic in the Round of 16 at EuroBasket 2022. Italy beat Serbia by a margin of 8 points in an intense, nail-biting, 94-86 game. Italy was never the favorite to win a game against Jokic’s Serbia.

Thanks to Gianmarco Pozzecco’s passionate coaching and his team’s determination, they managed to do the unthinkable. Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is representing his country, Greece in this tournament might not have paid a lot of attention to his NBA peer getting knocked out. Still, he sure did get to know how the Italians felt after that incredible feat.

As the Milwaukee Bucks star was walking down the hallway blasting music on his headphones, unbothered, a wild Gianmarco appeared from the locker rooms of the Mercedez-Benz Arena and ran into the arms of Giannis. It was like something out of a romance flick.

Pozzecco’s passionate hug was uncalled for but the NBA star did not mind getting that from the 49-year-old coach. The Italian jumped into the arms of Giannis and the 6’9 “Greek Freak” did a great job of catching the coach.

Giannis did not only catch the coach but also reciprocated the love as Pozzecco yelled “I love you Giannis” out of joy from knocking out the Serbian giant. Rarely do you get to see such wholesome moments from the basketball locker rooms? Safe to say Giannis will never forget this hug in his life. Basketball Twitter absolutely loved this moment between the two and reacted to this.
