Bill Simmons claims Nikola Jokic is better offensively than this 3-time NBA Champion

Bill Simmons claims Nikola Jokic is better offensively than this 3-time NBA Champion

Bill Simmons and Nikola Jokic

Nikola Jokic is for sure one of the best Big Men in NBA history. At just 27, the Denver Nuggets star has left his mark all over the history sheet of the league, statistically and otherwise. Comparing him to any big man in the league is normal. Like Shaquille O’Neal compared him to Tim Duncan. But, perhaps the biggest compliment might have come Jokic’s way from NBA analyst Bill Simmons.

Simmons on his podcast, “The Bill Simmons Podcast” said that after watching Jokic play, he was convinced that the Joker was better than Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird. “This guy’s actually probably better than Bird offensively,” said Simmons on his podcast. Being compared to one of the greatest players in NBA history is certainly a big compliment to Jokic’s game and his style of play, which is largely unconventional but efficient.

Simmons also added that the 2 x MVP has an excellent vision on the court that allows him to scan the offensive floor more easily. Simmons said, “Something different when somebody has freak vision, freak everything, and Jokic has it.” When it comes to operating and directing the offense, perhaps no one in the league does it better than Jokic. He passes like the best passer in the league and scores like the best big man on the floor against any opponent.

Nikola Jokic is moving up in the MVP ladder again

As Shaq pointed out earlier, Jokic’s game is perhaps like Duncan, without flashes and highlights. He plays his style and his impact on the game is barely visible to the spectators, but when you check the stat line, he is all over. This is one of the reasons, Jokic is moving up on the MVP ladder again, after winning 2 back-to-back MVPs.

The Serbian center for the Nuggets is flirting with a triple-double this season and putting up excellent numbers on the board. Jokic is averaging 25.7 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 9.4 assists per game this season for the Nuggets. He is shooting 61.9 percent from the field with 1.5 steals per game.

The Denver Nuggets are tied at the top spot in the Western Conference with New Orleans Pelican and the most of credit goes to Jokic. He took and drove the offense through himself when Michael Porter Jr. was out of the lineup. Despite his co-star Jamal Murray struggling to find his foot in the game, Jokic has kept the offense balanced even against the best teams in the league.
