The Lakers have seriously disappointed LeBron James with their pursuit in the Kyrie Irving trade saga. While the Brooklyn Nets did a fantastic job with their move for Kyrie to Dallas Mavericks, the Lakers were desperate for an epic link-up between LeBron and Kyrie in Los Angeles.

Since the deal came to light, LeBron has expressed his outrage over the deal through a cryptic tweet. The former Cavs legend was seemingly exasperated with the deal, and his tweet might express the right emotions.

Sports expert Brian Windhorst thinks the Lakers should have made it up to LeBron, given his immense contributions and loyalty to the team. Windhorst argues that a Kyrie-LeBron linkup would have been a perfect way to repay LeBron’s contribution and a dream come true for several fans.

This Sunday, the Nets confirmed their deal for trade with the Mavericks for Kyrie Irving in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney-Smith. Now, Kyrie will play alongside Luka Doncic, one of the most emerging and talented players in the NBA squad pool.

King James has been one of the most influential players for the Los Angeles Lakers. He can pull the string for bringing some of the best and most talented players in the NBA to the Lakers. However, the Lakers failed James this time with their failed pursuit of Kyrie Irving.

It was never so that the Lakers never wanted Kyrie. The Lakers had offered the Nets a package that included 2027 and 2029 first-round picks and Russel Westbrook. However, the Nets wanted Austin Reaves and Max Christie, in addition to the swaps from the original deal, to get hold of Kyrie. This was when the Lakers backed out from the deal.

LeBron James was seemingly frustrated with this pursuit and felt it was his fault that this once-in-a-lifetime deal failed. LeBron posted a cryptic tweet after Kyrie’s trade to Mavericks, saying, “Maybe it’s me.”

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst has backed LeBron in his disappointment and believes that the lakers have failed him. He argues that although King James has never explicitly criticized his other teams, he gave the Lakers enough slack for their shortfall with the deal.

As Windhorst says, “They [ Lakers] should really try to get something done because, at some point, “I gotta believe that patience is going to end, but [LeBron] has never given this kind of slack to the Heat or Cavs, but the Lakers get the slack.”

The Kyrie Irving trade deal has pretty much shocked every one of the basketball fans. The Nets could not agree on his contract extension, which resulted in him getting traded to the Mavericks last Sunday.
