“Cannot raise your ticket prices if your team SUCKS” Charles Barkley turns on ‘savage mode’ whilst visualizing himself as NBA Commissioner
Charles Barkley
Charles Barkley is one of the people in the NBA world who isn’t shy about speaking his mind. You can find Barkley keeping it real on NBA on TNT when he speaks about teams and the players’ performances in the game. In conversation with Bleacher Report’s Taylor Rooks, Barkley discussed a multitude of topics around the NBA, such as his stance on Klay Thompson and his receding athleticism and the other lingering issues that he would put to change if he was the NBA Commissioner.
When Rooks asked Barkley what three things he would change in the NBA if he was the NBA commissioner. Barkley remained unfiltered in his opinion. Barkley opined that he would address three issues, ticket prices, load management, and the opening of the NBA season.
So many teams have been performing historically low in the past few seasons and yet they have kept their prices as high as before. The former Phoenix Suns star compared the bad-performing teams with bad products and increasing the costs of bad products doesn’t make any sense. In the interview, Charles Barkley also spoke about Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and how he wanted the NBA to make sure that he starts the All-Star game.
According to Barkley ticket prices of an organization or team should reflect their performances in the season. Chuck suggested, “You can not raise your ticket prices if you don’t finish above 500…if your team sucks.” Perhaps Charles is right, as many teams have kept their ticket prices high despite performing horribly in the last few seasons.

Charles Barkley criticizes load management in the NBA and says wants to shorten the season
Charles Barkley also brought out some of the issues that he would want to change about the league. Before the pandemic and the Bubble games, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George came under severe criticism for taking a number of games off to save themselves for the postseason. Kyrie Irving also took games off under reasons alluding to personal reasons. The players taking games off to load manage their bodies became a talking point in the NBA in the last two seasons.
Barkley said that in recent developments the NBA players have been skipping many games under load management. According to Barkley, load management isn’t good for fans and the game. He said, “You cannot have load management, it’s not fair to the fans it’s not fair to the game.” Barkley also brought about the reality that sometimes fans save money only to see their favorite basketball players, and load managing is unjust to them.
Chuck also said that if he were the NBA commissioner he would shorten the season from 82 games to somewhere in the 70s and then wouldn’t start the season before Christmas. Alluding to the popularity of NFL and the college football in the US, Chuck said NBA ratings are substantially affected by them.
