Draymond Green was on spot again for the Golden State Warriors, as the home team took game 2 to level the 2022 NBA Final series. This led to sports media personality Colin Cowherd heaping praise on the star forward and even compared him with legendary ’Bad-Boy’ Dennis Rodman.

Golden State Warriors returned to their normal self, as they took on Boston Celtics in Game 2 at Chase Center. The team played great defense and free-flowing offense to disrupt the Celtics’ plans and most importantly – Draymond Green returned back to his aggressive best. Though he never went out of sight, yet he clearly wanted to make-up for his Game 1 performance. A brutal critic of himself, Draymond did make the required adjustments in his gameplay and looked better in Game -2 of the NBA Finals. Sports analyst Colin Cowherd showers praise for the “little on the stat sheet – bigger on floor” contribution by Draymond.

Colin Cowherd believes that Green has made every teammate he has played with better. It’s a trait that every Warriors leader has, especially Draymond Green. This quality sets them apart from other teams and has got them to their 6th NBA Finals in a previous 8 seasons.

Draymond Green had a very poor opening game of the NBA Finals, where the Celtics banked on their 4th quarter surge and handed the Golden State Warriors 1st loss of this postseason. Disappointed by his performance, Draymond took the responsibility in the 2nd game. He did not go on to score big numbers or even had very locked down defense on Boston stars, but he did what he did the most to impact the game – making team plays, both offensively and defensively.

His constant vocal presence on the floor kept the Warriors energized throughout the game, and involved fans more than often. Cowherd said“Last night he made two field goals, and there’s an argument to be made that he totally discombobulated the Celtics offense and Jaylen Brown and was the most valuable player on the floor.”

While talking about his selfless plays and “team” first behavior – cowherd added, “Westbrook has never made a teammate better. Draymond Green has made every teammate he’s ever played with better.”

Former defensive player of the year made a huge upgrade on the floor and guarded the opposing team’s hottest shooter. That led to a significant change between Game 1 and Game 2, and Celtics couldn’t get enough runs to catch up Warriors from the 3rd quarter. Green did what the Golden State Warriors need him to do to win, which Cowherd believes is Westbrook’s problem.

58 years old analyst lauds the Green effect and said, “Find me the teammate Westbrook’s made better in his career. Isn’t that kind of what basketball is: winning and stuff? Like, isn’t that why we are playing, or is it just for you to get your triple-double?” – targeting Russell Westbrook in the process.

For Russell Westbrook, who has tremendous career stats, it would be just a personal accomplishment and with no Championships. Green has 3 championships, and his contributions to the Warriors dynasty have not been flashy, but they have helped the team succeed.

Many would target Green’s arguments on floor and hustle plays bit rough, but that’s something a “bad guy” needed to do to protect his team. It can be seen as a similar trait that made great Dennis Rodman a Hall of Famer.

Dennis Rodman is an arguably better rebounder, and even better-shot blocker than Green, but Rodman was not as effective in other aspects. On the offensive end, Green would prove more vital than Rodman. And more importantly, both players have been critical components of their team’s dynasties. When Draymond hangs his shoes, he could find himself alongside Dennis Rodman in the basketball Hall of Fame.

For Colin Cowherd, Green’s all-around game has been critical in the Warriors dynasty. During the team’s current playoff run, Green has done an excellent job proving Cowherd’s assessment correct. Green additionally works on the play-making, which gives the fiery offensive team an extra boost. His vision and passing made some of the shots easier.

Warriors will be hoping to see more of the same Draymond in coming matches, which would help the team enormously in the chase for the 4th NBA title. The next matchup is at TD Garden on Wednesday night.
