“Get to a WCF at least you bum” – Damian Lillard ROASTED for defending Russell Westbrook’s Lakers tenure
Fans clown Damian Lillard for his take about the Lakers bringing Russell Westbrook off the bench.
Russell Westbrook, LeBron James and Damian Lillard
Damian Lillard has been a regular name in the NBA headlines with his takes around his future in the league. This time the reason isn’t him recruiting a star, tweeting a play, or hinting toward wanting a trade. Instead, it’s his take on Russell Westbrook’s time with the Los Angeles Lakers. Damian Lillard is a real brother for Brodie as once again he defended Mr Triple Double.
Recently, Damian Lillard appeared on Showtime Sports’ podcast, “The Last Stand.” There while discussing his future he used the Russell Westbrook and the Los Angeles Lakers case. Talking about Russell Westbrook’s last season with the Los Angeles Lakers, Damian Lillard quoted: “When Russ [Westbrook] went to the Lakers, it was ‘the Lakers’, you know what I mean? Then they got Russ coming off the bench like he’s not a Hall-of-Famer… Man, that’s Russell Westbrook like what?”
Damian Lillard used Russell Westbrook and his situation as an example to explain to people how not everything works every time in every system. But while doing so he took a shot at the LeBron James-led Los Angeles Lakers which probably was unintentional but you never know. Lillard just wanted to point out the disrespect Russell Westbrook faced. But he ended up disrespecting the Lakers Nation.
But bringing Russell Westbrook off the bench worked for the team coached by Darvin Ham. As Brodie led the second unit for 49 games and even made a great case to win the Sixth Man of The Year award before getting traded. But unfortunately, Damian Lillard’s take now is under the heat and fans are back trolling him.
NBA Twitter clowns Damian Lillard for using Russell Westbrook’s situation with the Lakers
Twitter never shows any mercy to NBA superstars, especially when it’s Damian Lillard. As he hasn’t won anything with the Portland Trailblazers yet. The fans believe he used the take to indirectly say he doesn’t want to hoop with LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Many are also calling him out for thrashing a team that made the Western Conference Finals while he didn’t even make it to the play-in tournament. Many even clown his take. You can find some of the many reactions posted by fans on Twitter here below:
Damian Lillard’s future though is still uncertain. He’s got the bag with the Portland Trail Blazers last season but the team has always failed to land a superstar to help him. Now the air in the league hints at him parting ways with the franchise and they start rebuilding.
The front runners who can land Damian Lillard are Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Phoenix Suns, and Milwaukee Bucks. There are also rumors that the franchise can give away their 3rd pick in this year’s draft to get a superstar on the team so Damian Lillard can hunt for a ring.
