“NOBODY loved me” Dennis Rodman reflects on his “dark days” growing up as a young NBA superstar
Dennis Rodman is still viewed as a madman that ran the wooden floors of the NBA. He was one of the most recognisable characters from the league and at times he was recently focal point of basketball drama considering his history of being a magnet for female attention.
The former Chicago Bulls power forward was extremely well received by NBA fans and everybody loved the way he played basketball. But his unique skill and recognition for it was not enough to make him feel happy. He once revealed that him searching for love was his biggest flaw.
“All I needed was people say okay great, it’s okay, we like you, we love you. That was my biggest flaw right there. Because my mother never loved me, never had a dad, my sister Dave who knows. My family left me, the team left me, everyone left me.”
Dennis Rodman once got kicked out by his family
Dennis Rodman had a story that was unlike what you would hear usually. He had an extremely tough upbringing and fell victim to emotional distress as well. It was never easy for the Worn as a child since his father abandoned the family when he was an infant and things were tough ever since.
It may have been that he developed abandonment issues and always yearned for the approval of others. His mother was never the type to express affection. Before all the fame and money, he was forced to work and earn bread for the family, if not he was kicked out of his home.
Dennis Rodman had an incredible career playing for the Detroit Pistons, San Antonio Spurs and Bulls. It was during these teams when he rose as a completely dominant defender. He revealed he once thought of suicide after Chuck Daley resigned as Head Coach of the Pistons. The two were incredibly close which is why Rodman felt abandoned.
