Since being traded to the Brooklyn Nets, Ben Simmons has been under media, coaches, and fans’ scanners. His one blunder in the playoffs, which perhaps caused the Philadelphia 76ers to lose the series, still lingers with him. Before that play, Simmons was a great passer of the ball, after that play it was evident that he was hesitant to take the shot. With the Nets, nothing has been going well for the 3 x NBA All-Star. His defense has deteriorated, he has been averaging 7.6 points per game, which is a career low. In the game against the 76ers, Simmons made a play that irked the fans on Twitter.
With 38 seconds remaining on the clock in the second quarter, the 76ers were leading by 62-75. Simmons received a pass just near the paint area. He turned around and passed the ball to Seth Curry, whose shot fell short and deflected after hitting the rim. When ben received the pass he was being defended by Joel Embiid. There is a chance that having a bigger defender in front of him, the All-Star player did not take the shot.
What stands out in the play is the quickness of the pass that Simmons threw the ball to Curry. When he received the ball from the pass, he did not even look at the rim. That says a lot about the Nets’ star instincts on the offensive floor. Shying away from taking and making shots has become one of the biggest issues of his game. Yes, he can defend the best player on the team and use his size to grab rebounds but as long as he doesn’t shoot, he becomes their liability on the floor.

Fans were in utter disbelief, after watching Simmons pass the ball to Seth and not even look at the rim, as if it wasn’t there. Reacting to Ben’s play one of the fans wrote on Twitter, “He’s going to find his self in the G league.” Another fan wrote, “Teams don’t have to play defense on him . This is ridiculous. The Nets were playing without their superstar scorer Kevin Durant, which made them heavily shorthanded on the offensive end. At the end of the first half, Brooklyn was down by 10 points, but they fought back in the third and the fourth quarter. However, that was not enough for the Nets, as they fell 133-137 in a high-scoring game. Seth Curry scored game-high 32 points followed by Kyrie Irving’s 30 points for the Nets. Tyrese Maxey scored team-high 27 points for the 76ers.
