“He’s a DAWG when he plays at his best” – Fans hyped after Kawhi Leonard knocks the game-winner against Hornets, first game back from injury
Kawhi Leonard
Kawhi Leonard returned to the L A. Clippers lineup after being out from the team due to sprained ankle. During the Clippers’ matchup against the Charlotte Hornets, Leonard played for 28 minutes due to a minutes restriction. He dropped 16 points making 7 of 15 shots from the field. But the highlight of Klaw’s return was his game-winning lethal midrange shot with 1.4 seconds remaining on the clock.
With 6 seconds remaining on the game clock in the 4th quarter, the Clippers and the Hornets were tied at 117-117. John Wall took the ball out of bounce and passed it to Leonard in the corner. Kawhi took a few jabs and finally with a single dribble on the left scored a step-back midrange jumper to give the Clippers a 2-point lead. The Hornets failed to score with 1.4 seconds left on the clock, giving the Clippers their 14th victory of the season.
Paul George also made his return to the lineup and scored 19 points along with 7 assists in the win. It was high time for both the stars to return to the lineup after missing most of the first quarter of the season. Although it needed both the stars to play for the winning cause against a weak Hornets, not much was expected out of them being on the minutes’ restrictions.

Despite making the clutch shot in the last seconds of the game, Leonard was not happy that they gave up a commanding lead in the fourth quarter and said he would rather want to close the game early. “That ending is great that I was able to make that shot. We’re [leading by] nine, eight points pretty much the whole game. I would rather close it out than have to out like that,” Leonard said.
