Marcus Smart and Jayson Tatum
Jayson Tatum and the Celtics have won 10 of the 13 games and the win against the Detroit Pistons was their 6th consecutive win of the 2022-23 season. Tatum scored a season-high 43 points in the game against the Pistons on Saturday. After losing the NBA finals against the Golden State Warriors, the Celtics and Jayson Tatum are starting their other stint to the finals this season.
Leading the Celtics’ offense, Tatum scored 28 of his 43 points in the first half of the game. Three other players apart from Tatum scored in double digits. Grant Williams scored 19 points, Derrick White scored, 12 points and last year DPOY Marcus Smart scored 18 points to secure their back-to-back win.
Celtics beat the Pistons 117-108 in their first meeting of the season. The Pistons were leading the game by 2 points at the end of the second quarter but the Celtics came back from the break to take an 8-points lead to end the 3rd quarter. Key players for both teams were absent. Jaylen Brown was out of the game due to a knee contusion and Cade Cunningham is about to miss at least a week due to shin soreness.

Marcus Smart, Jaylen Brown and Tatum are the three key pieces that have kept the Celtics going all these years. The 2021-22 season holds a special place in Smart’s career since he also won the Defensive Player of the Year award the same season he went to the finals. Last season was also a breakout season for Jayson Tatum as the Celtics swept Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in the 1st round of the 2021-22 Eastern Conference.
So far into this season, the Celtics have an excellent record among other extremely well-constructed teams. They are number one in NBA in points per game against their opponents making them one of the best offensive teams in the league. The Celtics are a young team with excellent players who know their roles in the team. Only 3 players in the team are over 30 years of age

The Boston Celtics won their game against the Pistons with a convincing margin but it was something else that fans held on to. Marcus Smart had an open layup to score the basket, instead, he tried assisting Tatum who was trailing behind him with an off-the-board lob. Much to the embarrassment, Tatum missed the lob and instead threw back to Smart for an open 3-point shot which he missed as well.
The whole sequence was so funny to fans that they took to Twitter to troll Smart and Tatum for their entry into Shaqtin-a-fool. One of the fans wrote, “When you are 1 assists off a triple double and its 3 seconds left*”. The other wrote, “Great when it works. Embarrassing when it doesn’t”. Here are some of the Tweets that stood out:
With this young core, the Celtics have a very high ceiling for the future. Jayson Tatum is emerging as one of the best players in the league, who can both defend the best player on the opposite team and score the ball at his will. They are only going to get better with time, and it remains to be seen if they can win a title with this team.
