“Make the move Pelinka” NBA fans urge the Lakers to trade for ‘tanking’ Myles Turner after his DESPERATE efforts

“Make the move Pelinka” NBA fans urge the Lakers to trade for ‘tanking’ Myles Turner after his DESPERATE efforts

Rob Pelinka, Myles Turner

Since Myles Turner has repeatedly been viewed as a target for the Lakers over the past year, the team has probably been mentioned in trade discussions about him. Turner was spotted tanking in his most recent games for the Pacers and was shockingly open to discussing a potential trade during a recent podcast appearance. He probably isn’t tanking to be traded or even if he’s doing that we don’t know. But the fans like always have come up with their own theories and those are suiting well in the situation.

The Lakers started the season 0-5 until finally winning their first game on Sunday night against the Denver Nuggets. As a result, trade rumors concerning Myles Turner and Buddy Hield have intensified, and it is obvious that the Lakers need to make some adjustments given their 1-5 record. Although Russell Westbrook and draft picks for Turner and Hield were discussed in trade talks between the Lakers and Indiana Pacers before offseason workouts, the Pacers big man believes it’s a deal that might be worth pursuing.

Myles Turner was questioned about the frequently debated trade rumors involving the Pacers and Lakers while speaking on “The Woj Pod” with ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. He stated: “If I’m the Lakers, I take a very hard look at this with the position that you’re in. I know what I can provide for a team. My leadership, my shot-blocking, my three-point ability and just my ability to make plays out there on the floor.” He further added: “But as far as pulling the trigger, you know… I get paid to shoot, not making these calls, so I couldn’t answer that.”

Is Myles Turner a good addition for the 1-5 Lakers?

Myles Turner played and started 42 games last season for the underperforming Indiana Pacers, and before missing the remainder of the season with a second foot injury, he once again led the league in blocks per game. He played 30 minutes per game and averaged 12.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.8 blocks, and shooting percentages of 50.9 from inside and 33.3 from outside the arc. Turner just played against the Wizards this season and recorded a season-high 27 points, 10 rebounds, five blocks, and a 3-of-4 three-point shooting percentage.

Turner could play the centre position, something Anthony Davis prefers not to do and this would give the team a big man who can shoot and defend the rim. For the Pacers this season, he is averaging 16 points and 8 rebounds a game. Turner, the previous 11th overall pick, is 26 years old and in the prime of his career. He is a highly skilled shot blocker who has developed an offensive style that extends beyond the three-point line which might be the boost that the 1-5 Lakers need.

Twitter fans react to Turner craving for a trade and tanking his recent performances

Myles Turner also discussed in the “WojPod” how Buddy Hield and he have drawn the attention of Lakers supporters throughout the early phase of this season. While the Lakers were losing halfway across the country, he remembers watching with Hield as fans’ tweets came in. As he enters the final year of his deal with Indiana, Turner also discussed wanting to stay healthy this season after beginning the year with an ankle injury.

Twitter fans were in a hurry to urge the Laker organization to pull of a trade:

Turner was also seen ‘tanking’ his performances as a part of the trade saga:

When accompanied by consistent shooters, LeBron James and Anthony Davis have demonstrated their deadly potential. The team’s main problem will be immediately resolved by adding Myles Turner and Buddy Hield because the Lakers are now last in the league at everything. A trade of this nature carries a risk because Turner is in the final year of his contract; nevertheless, given how well-suited Turner and Hield are, LA should be eager to take a chance.
