Former NBA Champion reveals why he will choose Klay Thompson over Stephen Curry in a shot for his own life

Stephen Curry has proven himself to be one of the best NBA athletes ever. Much less than being the only player who has recorded over 3000 three-point field goals in the history of the league. From being a player who was doubted his injury-prone self to becoming an All-Time great, Curry has achieved the unthinkable. His story is far from over despite being one of the oldest ones in the NBA today.

But surprisingly, after all that Stephen Curry has shown the world, only one attribute stood between him from being chosen as a better shooter by Richard Jefferson. The former 2016 NBA Champion has had several battles against the Golden State Warriors team and had even played with him as well. On his recent episode on “Road Trippin” he chose Klay Thompson as a much more reliable catch-and-shoot player.

He said, “If I had to say set shot, I would let Klay shoot for my life before Steph… If we’re just talking about set shot. Swing, swing, catch, shoot… I might let Klay shoot. Off the dribble that’s not a question. Off the move, that’s not a question. I’m talking about pure feet set catch-and-shoot.” Thompson has also proven to be an expert when it comes to shooting the ball. He seems to have it right with the mechanics as well.

Stephen Curry arrived on the scene much earlier that his fellow splash brother Klay Thompson. They have spent an entire decade learning how to play alongside each other and helped form one of the greatest dynasties in the NBA. Both players have battled it out during All-Star Weekend to earn the Three-Point Content Trophy with one breaking the other’s score over and over again.

Steph has been viewed as the official leader of the group as he led the team through four championships. The most recent title was from last season which had Thompson return for a two-year hiatus. Curry has more shoots at a much higher rate and makes significantly more threes. Thompson takes lesser attempts and as a result, makes a few.

Curry averages a 42.8 career three-point percentage while Thompson shoots 41.5%. Steph averaged at least two more attempts than his counterpart. However, Curry is very consistent on the offensive end of the ball game, unlike Thompson who tends to have a fluctuating pattern. He is well known to erupt at random becoming a strong weapon that can be used against opponents. KT has not shown the same potential following his return from injuries, however.
