“I don’t see it happening to nobody else,” HEARTBROKEN LeBron James opens up about the missed foul call on his game-winning play during Lakers-Celtics showdow

LeBron James fouled by Jayson Tatum

Seems like LeBron James has been having a tough time pleasing referees this season, as he and the Los Angeles Lakers fall victim to bad officiating again. The Lakers’ frustration is mounting after a double-overtime loss against the Dallas Mavericks, which alone had 2 foul calls missed to end the game. A no-call against Joel Embiid for grabbing the shooting hand of Russell Westbrook. This time Boston Celtics were the beneficiary of the missed foul call on LeBron, which led them to an overtime win over the Lakers. The 4 x NBA champion was fouled on the final play of the game, which could have given the Lakers higher chance to seal the game.

Speaking to the media after the game, James looked pretty frustrated with the call, which cost his team the game. Expressing his disappointment after the game, the 4 x league MVP said that, it was beyond his understanding why he doesn’t get the call. He is one of the prominent rim attackers in the game. “I don’t get it,” James said. “I’m attacking the paint just as much as any of the other guys in this league that are shooting double-digit free throws per night. I don’t get it. I don’t understand,” he added. When asked if he would want the Lakers to talk to the league, he said that it is not going to make any difference. “It ain’t gonna change sh*t,” he remarked.

James also emphatically said that he is particularly denied calls as compared to other players who play the most part of the game in the paint. “I don’t understand what we’re doing, and I watch basketball every single day,” said James. “I don’t see it happening to nobody else. It’s just weird,” he added. “You guys seen some of the games that we’ve lost this year with late-game missed calls. We had opportunities to literally win the game,” the 4 x league MVP said. “I had this second one in the last few weeks myself against,” he reminded.

However, James’ teammate Anthony Davis did not hold back on his emotions and lashed out at referees for continued bad calls. Keeping it real, Davis told reporters that his team was cheated tonight.  “It’s bullsh*t,” Davis said. “It’s unacceptable. … We got cheated tonight,” he added. Considering the series of bad calls against the team, their frustration is understandable.

After the game, the crew chief Eric Lewis admitted that there was contact on the final play against LeBron by a Celtics player. Speaking to the pool reporter, Lewis said that mistake had happened on the final play. However, he said that they could not see it during that time. “There was contact,” he said. “At the time, during the game, we did not see a foul. The crew missed the play,” Lewis said in the statement. There has been noise against such game-deciding plays, that could certainly ruin a team like the Lakers’ chances of making it to the playoffs.

Head coach Darvin Ham was clearly upset and bewildered after the game, as he sounded off in the postgame interview. Ham told reporters that it amazes him, how LeBron doesn’t get the call on the plays.  “The best player on earth can’t get a call. It’s amazing,” coach Ham said. Lakers guard Dennis Schroder took to Instagram to call out officials and wrote that the refs should be fined for wrong calls. “The refs gotta start getting fined for their mistakes…The replay center should also use replay to get these calls right, especially on an important play like the OBVIOUS foul on LeBron at the end of the game,” the German player wrote. Moreover, he also added that right now Lakers need every win they can to make it into the postseason.

Lakers assistant coach, Phil Handy was also clearly upset with no call on the foul play. On his social media account, he wrote, “Sh*t is getting out of hand! Period!” Later James also commented on a Clutch Point Twitter post about the play and wrote, “That one hurt BIG TIME!!! I don’t understand.” Perhaps, seeing the series of late-game bad calls against the Lakers gives a better perspective on their frustration against the call. Perhaps, the officials should have a second look by themselves, so that mistakes aren’t made. There is a reason, replays are available to them.
