James Harden has demanded a trade out of the Philadelphia 76ers after two disappointing seasons. But the unsuccessful runs with Joel Embiid and others aren’t the only reason behind him forcing his way out. The superstar is extremely unhappy with the way his Free Agency was handled by the front office. Also, the Sixers have no intention to offer Harden a max contract extension.
The President of Basketball Operations of the Philadelphia 76ers, Daryl Morey had a special relationship with James Harden. They spent years together at the Houston Rockets. And, Morey even played a big role in recruiting the Beard to Philly. But now that relationship is also ruined as Harden wants out of Philly and stopping him is just not possible.
Shams Charania talking about James Harden’s relationship with Daryl Morey quoted: “What I learned in Las Vegas was, the relationship between James Harden and Daryl Morey, the president of basketball operations in Philadelphia, is essentially severed, it’s essentially fractured throughout this process. There’s no longer that valve of open-ended trust that we’ve seen over the course of 692 games that Daryl Morey and James Harden had been together in Houston.”
Further, Shams Charania went on to mention how James Harden took a $15 million cut last season. Now is disappointed as the team had no plans of offering him an extension which is a big reason for his demanding a trade. Then discussing the trade talks, the NBA Insider added: “Right now, James Harden is where he’s been in the last few weeks. He wants a trade and he wants a trade to the Clippers. Rival teams I’ve talked to in Vegas believe that’s the path the Sixers go down to potentially. It’s gonna come down to those two teams engaging and working out something.”
Shams Charania also mentioned how the relationship between Daryl Morey and James Harden is nowhere close to solid ground. Also, the chances for the Beard to not show up for the training camp or show up with some antics are real if the Sixers fail to trade him this summer. He has specifically asked to be traded to the Los Angeles Clippers.

James Harden to Clippers: LA desperate to form super team
Kawhi Leonard and Paul George have failed to lead the Los Angeles Clippers to a title. Injuries ruined their run but now the ownership is taking no chances as they desperately need a banner. So even they are interested in acquiring James Harden. Even Kawhi and PG agree with that addition. Also, reports claim that James Harden’s desire to join the Clippers has become even stronger after they re-signed Russell Westbrook.
Harden wants to reunite with Brodie and try to win a championship with a super team also featuring Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. But that realistically won’t be easy to do. The Clippers won’t be able to sign James Harden with a max extension and also pay everyone else. They’ll also have to get rid of some fillers and maybe a superstar.
As the Sixers aren’t going to give away their all-star guard for free or the minimum trade value as they want to continue their title hunt. So it would either be a multi-team trade or the Clippers will have to ship a superstar to Philly. But the front office will try their best to keep the BIG 3 alive while adding Harden to the core.
