Former NBA player John Salley thinks that suspended Boston Celtics coach Ime Udoka has made a bad decision in his life that goes in the way of his greatness. John Salley is also a friend of Udoka’s estranged partner Nia Long. Speaking of Long’s decision to remain silent and not talk about the scandal, Salley said that it was very mature of her.

In a talk on Vlad TV, Salley opened up about the scandal, that took the NBA by storm. The former NBA player said that Nia is her friend and knows things like these pass over time. “I‘m a friend of Nia Long, and if Nia Long was so good about being quiet about it and not talking about it, I take my hat off to her,” said Salley. “She usually, she knows things like this do pass. So God bless her.”

Salley also added that having a relationship within the organization, that clearly prohibits it was relay a bad decision on Udoka’s part. “He is a man that made a really, really poor decision… and didn’t work in his favor, was a poor decision.” Salley also said that Ime was an excellent coach and would have become one of the best in the league. However, according to the former Detroit Pistons star, Udoka’s poor decision came in his way to greatness.

Salley also added that bad decision-making on Udoka’s part also had a damaging effect on Nia and the children. “I’m happy my friend got out of that situation… And Nia happened to be, and her son and daughter are caught in the collateral damage of bad decision-making,” he said. Despite everything, Salley said that Udoka should have gotten the job in Brooklyn.

Last month Salley also made an appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s TV Show, Club Shay Shay and talked about Udoka’s scandal. In conversation with Sharpe, he said that Boston Celtics had everything planned and would eventually force Udoka to resign from the job at the end of the NBA season.

When Sharpe asked if Udoka would ever coach again, Salley immediately replied, “No. Hell’s no.” He further said that anywhere Ime goes he would carry his Boston history with him and it would be difficult for organizations to trust him. He also said that Nia Long, Udoka’s partner was her friend and he feels bad for her. “My heart goes out to my friend Nia for this. She don’t wanna be known for this. She’s a actress, she’s a director, she’s a mom, she’s a bad b***h,” said John

Ime Udoka had an excellent debut season as a head coach for the Boston Celtics with a 51-31 record. He took the Boston team to the NBA finals in his first year of coaching. Despite losing in the finals, the Celtics had a promising chance in the next season. Rightfully so, the Celtics are one of the top teams in the NBA right now.
