The Charlotte Hornets have recently popped up in the news. The reason for this appearance is their young center, Kai Jones. Jones, who is from the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, is a 22-year-old center for the Hornets. He was drafted 19th overall in the 2021 NBA draft. He was developing decently and was on his way to becoming a steady part of the Hornets’ rotation.
All that changed, however, when Jones told the Hornets that he would not be attending the Hornets training camp citing personal reasons. The Hornets later announced that Jones would be away from the team indefinitely. This announcement comes after a string of erratic posts on Twitter by the young center. Jones, had been acting weird on his social media handles for the past month. His posts also included claims where he was saying that he was better than LaMelo Ball and that he would beat Shaquille O’Neal and LeBron James.
He recently posted on Twitter saying, “My intuition is telling me there will be better days”. What this was a reference too is anybody’s best guess.
The Hornets’ management has said on the matter – “The Charlotte Hornets announced today that forward/center Kai Jones will not participate in Training Camp due to personal reasons. There is not currently a timetable for his return to the team.” Jones’ strange behaviour has led to several speculations. Until Jones speaks up, however, all fans can do is guess what’s going on with him.

NBA fans react to Kai Jones’ Twitter statements
With Jones’ strange comments and behaviour on Twitter, there was an opportunity for fans to make fun of him. They have taken the opportunity without a moment’s hesitation.
Fans believe that Jones not attending the Hornets training camp might be an indication of the team kicking him out. With Jones claiming that he has a better mid-range game than Hornets minority owner Michael Jordan, it might not be surprising. Here’s what fans have to say about Jones.
Fans believe that Jones’ recent unstable behaviour is due to him consuming narcotics. In an Instagram Live, Jones was seen sweating and slurring his speech. Hornets fans have asked him to stay clean and healthy. What happens to his NBA career will only be seen once he comes back to the league after his break.
