“Use you power to actually get it done” Kendrick Perkins believes LeBron James can be a vital INFLUENCE to get Kyrie Irving back on the court

Kendrick Perkins,

Kyrie Irving remains out after being suspended by the Brooklyn Nets amidst controversy surrounding allegations of antisemitism. The Brooklyn Nets are yet to give any clarity on Irving’s situation and any timeline for his return. Irving was issued a list of terms he has to fulfill in order for him to return to the team. However, many players and sports analysts have spoken against the terms and called out the organization’s harshness for it.

Earlier this week, after meeting with Kyrie on Friday, Nets’ owner Joe Tsai tweeted, “It’s clear to me that Kyrie does not have any beliefs of hate towards Jewish people or any group.” NBA commissioner Adam Silver also met with Kyrie and said in an interview with the New York Times, “He’s someone I’ve known for a decade, and I’ve never heard an antisemitic word from him or, frankly, hate directed at any group.” Silver further added, “Whether or not he is antisemitic is not relevant to the damage caused by the posting of hateful content.

After Jaylen Brown, LeBron took to Twitter to come in support of Irving and wrote that ‘the terms were excessive’. Former NBA player and NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins discussed LeBron’s stance on Irving’s situation and asked him to use his power to make something happen.

Speaking with Stephen A. Smith on First Take, Perkins said, “I appreciate LeBron James speaking out on his platform and using his voice,” Perkins said. “But that’s just a step… if he really want to go forward with this, and he really want to take action, that’s just the first step. Now, make those phone calls. Use your sources.” He added, “Use your power to actually get it done. So that Kyrie Irving don’t have to go through that whole entire list that they put out there that he has to do before he’s able to return to the game.”

More people from the NBA community speak against 6 terms in the ‘List’ for Kyrie Irving’s return

Since being suspended for at least 5 games by the Nets organization, Kyrie Irving is yet to return to the game. Even after meetings with Nets’ owner Joe Tsai and NBA commissioner Adam Silver, the timeline for his return is not yet clear. Despite Tsai and Silver sharing positive feedback on meeting with Kyrie, there is no clarity about his return. Brooklyn Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn said he had no idea about Kyrie’s return to the team.

As the season progressed, there has been a lot of resistance from the NBA community regarding the terms that Kyrie was issued by the organization. Sports analysts Kendrick Perkins, Stephen A. Smith, and Shannon Sharpe, all have spoken against the list of terms. In his recent Tweet Lakers star, LeBron James tweeted against the list and called it “excessive”.

He tweeted. “Kyrie apologized and he should be able to play. That’s what I think. It’s that simple.  Help him learn- but he should be playing. What he’s asked to do to get back on the floor I think is excessive IMO.” Earlier this week, NBPA vice president Jaylen Brown spoke against the list of terms issued to Irving and said, that a ‘lot of players in the league had issues with it.’
