Khabib Nurmagomedov is regarded as one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time, but there are a number of other candidates from all around the world who may make the same claim for the sporting universe as a whole. One of the notable ones is Michael Jordan, a six-time NBA champion who throughout the course of his career helped the sport of basketball to reach all around the world making him an sports icon. Therefore, many were shocked to hear Jordan’s name when Khabib was asked which celebrity he’d fight if he had the chance before the UFC Hall of Fame induction event.

During his Hall of Fame induction, he was recognised for his years of supremacy in the sport. Prior to unexpectedly retiring in 2020 at his mother’s request, he had risen to the top of the lightweight class without ever losing a single round. Nurmagomedov, a former lightweight champion of the UFC who left the sport at the peak of his career with a 29-0 record, was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame and is regarded as a thrilling ground-and-pound king.

We all know that Khabib Nurmagomedov has been out of the MMA for over two years, but it’s not like fans would be upset to see him come back at some point, even if it were in an exhibition setting. The Dagestan wrestler helped to popularise his part of Russia in MMA. When he was at his best, Nurmagomedov defeated several of the top 155-pound competitors like Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier, and Justin Gaethje. With ownership of the combat sports organisation Eagle Fighting Championship and involvement in the training and management of promising up-and-comers Usman Nurmagomedov, Umar Nurmagomedov, and Islam Makhachev, he has high aspirations for his post-fight career.

Basketball admirer Nurmagomedov, who has previously praised the Chicago Bulls icon, laughed when he stated he’d like to take Jordan down. Jordan is adored by Nurmagomedov as the 33-year-old MMA legend said he wants to meet MJ during last February’s appearance on “FULL SEND PODCAST” with Bob Menery and Kyle Forgeard. Later, he revealed that it was ESPN Films and Netflix’s documentary documentary ‘The Last Dance’ that first sparked his interest in Jordan.

Dan Cormier, a former two-weight UFC champion who is still working as a commentator at the Las Vegas-based fight company, joined Nurmagomedov on Thursday in the Hall of Fame. Nurmagomedov posed for pictures with the media and walked the red carpet before to being inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. He responded as follows when a reporter asked him to pick a fictional character or celebrity to fight: “Michael Jordan. Yes. Do you want to know why? Because I think I could take him down,” Nurmagomedov said with a laugh.
