“He DISRESPECTED him at his home” Kyrie Irving publicly humiliated Nets coach Steve Nash at his own turf
Steve Nash and Kyrie Irving
Although Steve Nash serves as the Brooklyn Nets‘ head coach since 2020, Kyrie Irving has always had a negative impression of him. NBA veteran Olden Polynice labelled Kyrie and Nash’s friendship irreparable when he spoke to Brandon Robinson about a probable dispute between the two parties.
The NBA’s most challenging position has been given to the Hall of Fame point guard and third-year Brooklyn Nets head coach after superstar Kevin Durant reportedly decided to withdraw his trade request and Kyrie Irving also decided to exercise his player option. The Brooklyn Nets appeared to be bound for dominance just a few seasons ago, but the current revelations have brought the actuality to light.
The NBA fan base was startled when the coaching staff and their stars subdivided. The bitterness made Brooklyn’s off-season unpleasant. Additionally, it was revealed that Irving believed Nash and Marks to be terrible, whilst KD reached the same opinion.
The Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant saga
Three years ago, the Brooklyn Nets were having a good time as a team after acquiring Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in 2019 free agency, instantly upgrading the organization—which had never won a championship—into a serious Eastern Conference title contender. The Nets’ situation is deteriorating and they are still without a title after three years. If Durant’s request for a trade had been granted, Kyrie would have most definitely followed him out of Brooklyn as well. Given that the Nets left both All-Star players’ futures out in the balance, a conflict involving Durant or Irving inside the organization might arise at any time.
If they were traded, KD and Kyrie’s three-year relationship with the Nets would have come to a halt. Throughout their stint with the team, Brooklyn only managed to win one postseason series. Brooklyn was anticipated to win a championship even if KD missed the first season of his deal because of an Achilles tear. Amazingly, Durant and Irving combined for just 58 of 247 games during their tenure with the Nets. Due to their injuries and Irving’s refusal to receive the COVID-19 vaccination, the two rarely played together on the court.

The animosity between Steve Nash and Irving as explained by NBA veteran
Last month, Olden Polynice said that Irving had attended a party at Nash’s house and made it a point to stir up controversy during an interview with Rob Parker and Chris Broussard on the Fox Sports podcast ‘The Odd Couple’. Polynice mentioned that he had received inside information about the gathering from a trustworthy source. Notably, Kyrie Irving treated Nash disrespectfully in front of the whole squad at his home. He said: “They are never going to get along. He kind of disrespected him at his own home.” Polynice later added: “This is somebody that would not make up a story. You can call it joking if you want, but I think he meant it when he said it.”
Prior to the controversy, rumors stated that Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving were among those who wanted Nash to be fired because they disapproved of their current coach’s coaching style. Fair enough, one should take Irving’s supposed relationship-ending tantrum at the house of his current head coach seriously given how out of control his ideas have been lately. These problems don’t just go away on their own, and for them to succeed to their greatest potential, Nash and Kyrie’s relationship must be immaculate.
