REPORT: Kyrie Irving seeks hefty $200 million contract extension, Nets ready to negotiate
Kyrie Irving is planning to sign a $200 million extension with the Brooklyn Nets if the scenario is supportive. He is currently playing under a 1-year contract with the Nets.

Before the season started Kyrie Irving signed a limited one-year deal with the Brooklyn Nets. Despite the fact that Irving wanted a bigger and max-extension deal with the Nets, the team didn’t want to extend the courtesy in light of his recurring unavailability. However, as the season progresses and eventually comes to an end, Irving’s agent said that the Nets star is looking for a max extension. After the injury of Kevin Durant, the Nets have lost 5 of their 7 games.
Shetellia Irving, the Nets’ star agent said that she has reached out to the team with the offer. Irving has also expressed his desire to make Brooklyn his home, with the right kind of extension. “Around Kyrie and staying with the Nets? I have reached out to the Nets regarding this,” his agent told Bleacher Report. “We have had no significant conversations to date. The desire is to make Brooklyn home, with the right type of extension, which means the ball is in the Nets’ court to communicate now if their desire is the same,” she added.
Being in the last year of his deal, the All-Star player is expected to reach an extension deal. If not, he is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2022-23 season. Once he becomes the free agent he is set to set the market on fire, while he generates interest in the market. The 7 x All-Star is eligible for roughly a $200 million max extension.

The 12-year veteran guard is set to make his right All-star appearance. He is the highest vote-getter among the guards in the Eastern Conference, according to the third vote returned by the fans. So far into the season Irving is averaging 26.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.0 assists this season. In the absence of Durant, it will be difficult for the Nets to keep their spot in the conference and make the playoffs. Ever since Irving returned to the roster after an 8-game suspension he has remained largely available for his team.
Brooklyn lost yet another crucial game against the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday. They were playing without their star player Kevin Durant for the seventh consecutive game. While the All-Star player has been away his team has lost 5 of 7 games as they continue to struggle on the court. Durant’s absence has been hurting them on both ends of the floor. Before KD got injured, he averaged 29.7 points and 1.5 blocks per game for the Nets.
