“Hell, NO!”, LaVar Ball furiously responds to LaMelo Ball representing the LA Laker

LaVar Ball and LaMelo Ball

LaMelo Ball of the famous ball brothers has had an amazing stint so far in the NBA, after being picked up by the Charlotte Hornets in 2020, Melo has achieved quite a bit thus far which includes a Rookie of the year trophy and inclusion in the All rookie first team in his first year with the Hornets. Currently, he is averaging 24 points and 7 assists a game. Everything being said, the sky seems to be the limit for the Hornet’s point guard.

As one might expect a superstar of his caliber would want to play for bigger franchises such as the Los Angeles Lakers or Golden State Warriors, however, his father put an end to the prospects of him ever stepping out to play for the purple and gold. In addition to the Hornets’ refusal to let the explosive point guard depart, LaVar Ball, the basketball star’s father, also won’t permit it.

Speaking on the matter, LaMelo Ball’s father LaVar Ball speaking on the matter said, “Common sense would tell you, ‘Hell No!’ You did something to my boy Lonzo, you think I’m gonna come back with his brothers? I gotta be stone-cold crazy! I wanted Melo to be a Laker before that ship sailed. You get rid of Zo [Lonzo Ball], you think I’m gonna come back? Even if I wanted to come back I’m not that type of foolish guy. I won’t let you tear up something and ‘Hey, I’m coming back with more this time!’ That’s a different type of brother.”

Lonzo Ball was selected by the LA Lakers as the number two pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. He was chosen ahead of current Boston Celtics standout Jayson Tatum by former Lakers president of basketball operations Magic Johnson. While playing with the Lakers, Ball’s potential was never fully realized. In 2019, the purple and gold acquired him as part of the Anthony Davis’ trade package. Ball wasn’t even informed of his trade by the Lakers.

The Charlotte Charlotte Hornets had dropped their previous eight contests. LaMelo Ball prevented the streak from reaching nine. The ball exploded for 16 points, three rebounds, and two assists in the fourth quarter of his fourth game following an ankle injury. A lob pass from beyond half-court was part of the performance as Charlotte defeated Sacramento Kings 125-119.

Since his comeback, Ball has been putting up big points, averaging 27 in his three games. Ball set up his teammates during the first three quarters, tallying more assists (10) than shots (nine). But when it mattered most, Ball took over. 31 points and 10 rebounds were contributed by Kelly Oubre, who also displayed his trademark disruptive defense.

Off the bench, Nick Richards recorded another double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Gordon Hayward chipped in with a productive 19 points on 12 attempts.

Terry Rozier, who missed the game due to a hip contusion sustained during Sunday’s loss to the Nuggets, was not present for the Hornets. Late on Wednesday night, the Hornets will play the Clippers to maintain their momentum.
